I love MS's commitment to excellence. Granted, it's a minor bug, but it only took me a few hours to find it. Guess I'll be copying methods the old fashion way in the code window.
This notification was generated for feedback item: Copying/Pasting Methods in Class Details causes parameter summaries to become renamed[^] which you submitted at the Microsoft Connect site.
BShroyer,
Thanks for the feedback! This is a good catch and is certainly a bug. We unfortunately won't be able to address this bug in VS2010 given our current focus on high priority performance and stability issues, but we will be reconsidering these types of bugs as we begin planning for our next release. In the meantime, I'm going to go ahead and resolve the bug as "Wont Fix" but feel free to either re-activate the bug or contact me directly at XXX@microsoft.com with any more questions/comments.
I wonder if my boss will allow me to add "Won't Fix" to our Action Taken list? My job just got easier.

Is that why Microsoft adds so many "features" to each release, service pack, patch, and product? I realize that the Redmond campus exists in a different universe; I just can't decide whether it's the one described by Scott Adams or Douglas Adams.

They didn't fix ANY of the issues I reported as an MVP for 2005 ( or in 2008 ), although they sent me a nice decorative paperweight. This included issues that make the design view useless, and issues that make WPF incapable of loading and resizing images reliably.

Yes, I'd happily trade it for any one of the bugs to be fixed, esp the 'WPF destroys my images' one.

MS Connect is a huge failure _at least_ in public relations.
The sheer amount of "won't fix" bugs that cripple core features that are advertised as a reson to buy, of "can't repoduces" with excellent and detailed reports from multiple submitters, links to solutions buried between hundreds of comments, criss-cross-linked cases. Microsoft replies written by techies sets a very factual tone (good) that nonetheless lacks any mercy on the poor bug submitters (bad).
Some of it could be fixed by presentation: introduce a "scheduled for next release", and marking one MS reply as "official answer". But in the end, the additional transparency also means less illusions.

Yes, the WPF mangles images issue, I sent an app that reproduced the problem, got a 'cannot repro', I sent back the two screenshots and said 'do you REALLY think these look the same', he said 'oh, yes, that IS a bug, we won't fix it'

It's like wallpapering your kid's room with this...
Actually though, it's just the illusion of transparency. "Won't fix" doesn't mean it won't get fixed; it just means they aren't gonna tell us when. The real bugs database is still locked away in some hidden fortress...

Wow, I just posted a major rant above. I was too pissed to read through the comments. I'll leave it though in the vain hope someone at Microsoft with an ounce of pride will take offense and actually try to change things.
How about Microsoft stop deciding that they will absolutely release on a date and actually fix the product to work right? I seriously cannot figure out what is infecting the water with the vendors I've been dealing with lately. They all get pissed off when you file bugs and then dismiss them with a wave of the hand.
I'll now take this opportunity to curse Borland to hell for not providing a competitive product to Visual Studio.

I was going to curse you for cursing Borland, then I read your whole sentence (a triumph over ADD). I received many free updates from them for finding bugs in their turbo pascal and turbo c compilers. If you reported a bug, they at least gave you lip service, and if they had a working version, would ship it to you.
Of course, they also had the no-non-sense license, or whatever they called it, which was a real winner.
But, like every other company that got in the way of MS, they are a ravaged shadow of their former selves.
I'm not complaining about 'predatory practices', because I think that is crap. They beat Borland by name, ability to outspend, and Borland making the really stupid decision to change their focus away from development tools.

They tried, but man did they fail. I have to use the turd they slapped together almost daily now, I dream of the day I get a C# project in.

As long as he can put "Won't Pay" into your bank account at the end of the month I doubt it will be a problem.
