I want to restrict user at certain height and width. Tried implementing window.ResizeTo, but it doesn't work on chrome and when multiple tabs are open.
My goal is NOT allow user to shrink browser window beyond certain height and width.
Please Advise.

No. That's user-hostile; don't do it.

Thanks for the reply. I also didn't like the idea.

i tried fetching a form from another page into a div element using ajax, now i want to use ajax function to submit the form i fetched but its not working... please how can i go about it? thank you

Ajax and Forms are two different animals.
Forms are submitted with a "SUBMIT" input type. They typically call to a target page which accepts the data from the form -> likely with a new page being renderedUsually AJAX is executed (called) via a javaScript function through pretty much any event that makes sense (on click, onchange, etc.). A new page is not usually rendered (the point of AJAX)"The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits." - Albert Einstein | "As far as we know, our computer has never had an undetected error." - Weisert | "If you are searching for perfection in others, then you seek disappointment. This is something I have come up against recently and that is dealing with the Japanese language in responsive web applications. Changing the formation of a sentence can change the entire context or meaning. How do we deal with this - if a sentence is too long for a field and spills onto the next line?
Is there anywhere I can read up on how this is handled? Any information would be appreciated!
Example
私は、コードが好き = I , like the code
私は、コードが好
き = I , code is good

I am not sure there is a solution to this problem because text does overflow to next line. In web development there are two solutions to this.
1. Decrease the font to make it fit the content width size.
2. Force a min-width option to make sure the text stays in one line and user must have window sized enough to view the content.
Otherwise, (AFAIK) there are no options to this problem.

This must be an issues that Japanese web designers have already addressed. You probably need to find a Japanese speaking developer to help you. Try a gneral plea in the Lounge.

hello everyone
i am a fresh graduate and i going to start my final year project
i have selected asp.net mvc4 c# in this regard. need your help in this regard

What is the question you have?
If you expect to find help to guide you through the whole project I doubt if anyone in the forums has enough time to do that. A better option is to search for a mentor from inside your school.
However, if you have specific questions, please provide sufficient details and the exact question and I'm sure that you'll get quality help.

Didn't you instructor appoint you a project to build? If you have made a choice of ASP.NET MVC, then let your instructor tell you what sort of project you are going to develop. I have not yet done graduation myself as I am a teen yet. But my seniors when I visited university oftenly, told me that they were being appointed a project for a Java project with database, or similar. So, I think it is duty of your instructor to appoint one, or at second chance, he might issue a project to you from a check list that you make of what you may be making.
We don't provide projects, not even ideas for projects because we don't know your capabilities or what topics you have learnt from your institute. Your instructor knows, that is why it is their duty to appoint. Or, if they just ask you to build something in a framework, it is then your (or your team members) choice to create a project.
However, if during the project you feel doubt of something, code not working as excepted or similar problems, do visit QA forums[^] we would be glad to help you with your troubles.

Hi All,
I wanted to set height of my table to certain value if IE is maximized. Is there a way to fire such an event?
Thanks in advance.
|
|
|
|
|
Check onresize[^] event...
But! I would adwise not to do such thing, but use CSS's height, min-height, max-height to set the table height...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Thanks, I was trying to do something like this:
window.addEventListener("resize",ResizeTable);
function ResizeTable()
{
if((parseInt(screen.height) == parseInt(window.outerHeight)) || (parseInt(screen.height) == parseInt(document.body.clientHeight)))
{
document.getElementById("table").style.height="91%";
}
else
{
document.getElementById("table").style.height="89%";
}
}
This code never hits true condition as window.outerHeight & document.body.clientHeight are never equal to screen.height. They are always less that screen.height.
Please help.

No, there isn't. Usually, to check whether an application is maximized it to check the windows properties, but IE won't share any of these abstract properties to a web application. In that case, you are only left with an option of window.onresize event.
After handling the event, you can manage a guess for the IE's size (in pixels) and change the dimensions of the table depending on the size of viewport. Remember, it is the viewport that you are able to check against. If you (somehow) try to work around with document's dimensions, you may or may not get values biggers than the window or screen itself.
That is why, I would still recommend that instead of using JavaScript, you try using CSS3's media queries.
@media screen and (max-width: 300px) {
}
@media screen and (max-width: 500px) {
}
@media screen and (min-width: 700) {
}
Avoid using JavaScript, as JavaScript costs CPU clocks, thus making it a non-friendly for device's battery, or maybe cause a lagging in your users device. Users may be using mobile.
