Be more specific. You have to use the UPDATE command somewheres in your code. This be either through hardcoding or using the data source wizard.

I seem to recall this guy had a problem with a gridview/datasource, he is expecting the datasource to autogenerate an update command if there is a select statement. As in:
I got the data
I changed the data
Why won't it update the database, I clicked the update button.
He is yet to work out that the datasource requires an Update command/script/procedure to actually write the data back to the database. Therefore the silly question. This has been answered at least once by Christian.

Idiot! You asked the same thing just an hour ago (see post below this one) and I gave you the answer. I not just mentioned to have a look at fileinfo, but I gave you a full code example which even a beginner should understand. But you ask the same question again!
If I had seen your crosspost in Windows Forms forum earlier, I wouldn't have answered at all.

yeah, but posting the same question twice within an hour is a sign of very low patience and will always get you some unfriendly remarks here. the same for posting the same question in different forums.
and what do you mean, your friend? are there two people behind this account? what is this? account sharing? why did you change your name? "don't you try to outweird me, i get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal."

then get a second account to not confuse people, please. and don't delete your messages. that's even more confusing.

I'm sure he just changed it to try to throw us off. Who would have one account for two people?

There are a lot of ways for telling things but calling people "idiot" is offal. You call him idiot before knowing why he wrote twice the same thing. So what, big deal!
I think that you should first apologize and instead the site administrator I was giving you a warning.

textbox1.text = myfile.Name
textbox2.text = myfile.Length
textbox3.text = myfile.CreationTime

Got an app that calls a shell to run tracert.exe using a user inputed destination. That works fine, but the shell disappears before you can see the results. Is there any way to keep the shell window open longer or is there a better way of doing the trace route?
|
|
|
|
|
Not a specific answer, but you can pipe the results of a command execution back to your program so you can then show it or do whatever with it. I think this[^] is VB6 code but it should get you in the right direction.
You might want to check out this excellent article[^] instead of calling tracert.exe.

You may use Process and ProcessInfo class to achieve the desired scenario:
Dim process1 As New Process
Dim processInfo As New ProcessStartInfo
processInfo.UseShellExecute = False
processInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = True
processInfo.Arguments = "10.64.1.40"
processInfo.WorkingDirectory = "C:\windows\system32"
processInfo.FileName = "tracert"
process1.StartInfo = processInfo
process1.Start()

Hi everybody,
My app was displaying each and every one of the 16 reports (crystal) I have. Suddenly, reports no longer appear on screen (reportviewer). The code has not been modified at all in months. All sub-routines seem to work and my try..catch structures do not detect any errors
I really do not know where to start. Can anybody offer some help?
Thank you very much.
Best Regards.
Alex.

Do your procs return data
Presumably you are running a database - check Profiler to make sure the proc is being called correctly
Make sure the proc returns the correct data (error may be date related).
Shoot Crystal Reports - sorry but it is really a crappy program.

Hi RAH,
I have verified the stored procedures and they do work fine; in fact I tried pointing my app to CR2008 libraries instead of the ones bundeled with .net, and all reports work.
I aggree with your assertion about CR.
any more ideas? it is imperative that I understand what caused this in the first place, so that I can solve and prevent it from happenig again.
Thanks.
Alex.

Good Afternoon All
I decided to post this as a Different post, because i might be confusing people by tryying to tackle two problem in one thread. Am using VS2003, if i create a new Project i can debug and the Green button to Debug is enabled, but i have an Existing Solution with Multiple Projects in it and the Green button is Disabled. What is wrong in my Solution Settings, because the only option is "Start without Debbuging"
Thanks
