You should capture WM_POWERBROADCAST message[^].
Also look at this[^]
I hope it helps,

I doubt. Remark section of this message states ,
"The message is broadcast by the power-management driver to each window returned by the EnumWindows function."

Hi,
my CString read like this one is ready||
I want to extract the first word (i.e) one .I tried Right,Left,Mid but i could not get the correct word.
P.S: the number of characters in the string may vary to different length.But i need to extract first word that is characters which are appear before a single space.
Any function to extract this?

You could use str.Find(' ');
It will return an int.
Like:
int n = str.Find(' ');<br />
CString strFirst = str.Left(n);
this is this.
|
|
|
|
|
CString csTest( "one is ready||" );
int nIndx = csTest.Find(' ');
MessageBox( csTest.Left( nIndx ));

ok for saying it's not good, but explain your thought...

A more flexible way:
CString strDelimiters = _T(" \t\r\n");
CString strText = _T("one word ready||");
CString strFirstWord = strText.Left(strText.FindOneOf(strDelimiters));

This is a good job for AfxExtractSubString() .

Hi,
We'd like to run a PowerPoint slideshow at the first time our application is started. Does anybody have an idea how to run the slideshow from within the application?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Snir yarom.

You could use ShellExecute() to run the show.
E.g.
ShellExecute (NULL,"Open","c:\\a.pps",NULL,NULL,SW_SHOW);
You can do this in InitInstance() etc of your application.
this is this.

Cheers.
If i want to run the pps slideshow only once i need to registr a bool value (bool firstTime) in the registry. And to check its vaule each time the app starts.
How do i read/write from/to the register this bool value ?
Thanks in advance.

search for using a powerpoint automation in your application.
ShellExecute() wont work for you as it opens the .ppt or the .pps file, but into an external app.

When i run my mfc application on Windows 98, dotted rectangle appears on the Check Boxes when i check any. while these rectangles do not appear when i run the same application on XP. How can we remove those rectangles in Windows 98?
|
|
|
|
|
The dotted rectangle behavior is by design. In WinXP, if you turn off Visual Styles, you will see this rectangle.
If you do not want the dotted rectangle, then you will need to use Owner-draw techniques; i.e, inherit your custom checkbox from CButton and draw the thing yourself. You can search CP for many such controls.
this is this.

I wrote a CHtmlView based application.
And I navigate to www.google.com.
Then I tried to search 'wine'.
but when I clicked the search button, nothing happened.
It seemed that the click event was ignored.
When I use IE,everything is correct.IE immediately show a dialog, said:When you send information to the internet,it might be possible for others to see that inforamtion.
Do you want to continue?
And I clicked 'yes'.Everything is OK.
But what's wrong with my CHtmlView Application??
Thank you all.
