there is one sample application given above to enable/ disable the device based on the selection from the list. so that it will reflect in the device manager window.
but there is one more option "scan for hardware change" in device manager, i need to execute that command through c# code.

What hardware device? Anything specific, or everything that anyone ever thought of hooking up to a computer?
vinaykskvs wrote: its very urgent
No, it's not. If it really was that urgent, you would pay someone to get the information instead of asking in a public forum.

any device which are connected to computer through Serial port or parallel port.
see this link below.

for example i need to select any of the ports and execute the "scan for hardware changes" option provided in the device manager through C# code.

IMO this http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/HardwareHelper.aspx[^] article is clear enough, you just use your imagination to evolve it.
BTW, have you learn about Windows API? if not, i suggest you to learn it first.

I am trying to view a section of a Word document from with a C# 2.0
program using the following:
ProcessStartInfo procInfo = new ProcessStartInfo("Word.exe");
procInfo.FileName = Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath)
+ @"\Docs\Mydoc.doc #section1";
procInfo.UseShellExecute = true;
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(procInfo);
I can view just the document, but if I include #section1, I get a
'can't find file' error. Is there any way round this.
thanks

Are you sure this is valid? Have you tried doing it from the command line to check?

Not quite. IF he deletes his 2nd post, you delete yours, and then I delete this one it'll go poof.

Dear All,
In my application, I have a windows service, this will perform some operations and pass the result (dataset) as the object and send back the same to my Windows and Web Application.
For communication I have used .Net Remoting.
I have used the object array as the input and an object as the response for the communication function and it is in the generalized a class inside a DLL.
Now when the response contains the ArrayList (which includes some strings and another ArrayList) it is type casting the object to ArrayList in the Windows and Web Application.
When I am passing the Dataset in the form of object to the front end as the response, it is giving the type casting error.
But while debugging the response in the front end has the Dataset.
Can any one help me to get rid of this?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best Regards,

hi there! I have one issue, and maybe someone out there can help me. I have an app, I am using it for processing files from ftp folder. Sometimes there is like a large amount of files, and it takes maybe 30 sec to 1 min to downloaded from the ftp folder. I want to put something like a progress bar where it shows how many files I am downloading, how many I have completed, and how much time the operation will take. Thx ahead for any help!!

the question is how I can do all of the things what I want to do. Like during I am transferring the files on the local disk, I want the progress bar to be shown, instead of not showing anything, plus how many files I am transferring, which one is transferred at the moment like 2/4, and the estimated time the transfer will finish.

Well, you're going to need two progress bars - one to show the percentage of files you've transferred, and one to show the progress of the currently transferring file.
I would use a BackgroundWorker thread to manage the first progress bar, and that fires off an asynchronous ftp transfer (which would update the 2nd progress bar).
It's completely pointless (not to mention, redundant) to have a progress bar that shows the percentage of files remaining, and it's pretty much impossible to determine how long the whole transfer is going to take unless you time the transfer of each file and calculate an average while everything is transferring.

Yeah but sometimes the client likes a bit of glitter on their turd app.
Add up the files, after the first one has finished guess that all the files will take that long and adjust your percentages appropriately; when the second has finished use the average and so on.
For extra points you could also display the name of each file as it is uploaded.
