Hi,
Simple question for experienced programmers, I think.
I used to work with Visual Studio 2003 in combination with .NET framework 1.1
The development webserver now runs .NET framework 2.0
Now I've installed .NET Framework 2.0 on my development computer.
But when I try to create a new C# web application project on the server, VS tells me that the server does not have .NET framework 1.1, which is true.
What do I have to do to make .NET framework 2.0 the default framework in Visual Studio for new projects?
Greetings
Henk

Install Visual Studio.NET 2005.
Visual Studio.NET 2002 will only compile against the .NET Framework 1.0.
Visual Studio.NET 2003 will only compile against the .NET Framework 1.1.
Visual Studio.NET 2005 will only compile against the .NET Framework 2.0.

Ahh.. OK. 2005 it is then.
Isn't 2005 backwards compatible with .NET 1.1 also?

2005 will not work at all with the 1.1 Framework. It's entirely dependant on the 2.0 Framework.
Remember that the compilers are NOT in Visual Studio, they're in the .NET Framework!
Most code generated by the 1.1 compilers will run under the 2.0 Framework, but there ARE breaking changes. Some 200 new classes were introduced in 2.0 and some 1200 changes made to existing classes.
Code generated by the 2.0 Framework will work under 1.1, but ONLY IF no classes and changed methods or properties were used that is specific to the 2.0 Framework.

I built an application in C# and add it a deployment project.
The Installation goes fine, but when I'm lunching the application it crashes and giving me this error:
EventType: clr20r3 P1: radioclocknew.exe P2: 1.0.0.0
P3: 43ea5327 P4: system.windows.forms P5: 2.0.0.0 P6: 4333aefa
P7: 1979 P8: 2 P9: pszqoadhx1u5zahbhohghldgiy4qixhx
On my computer it works great, it happens when I install it on other computer

I've never seen an error formatted like this. My first question would be does the other computer have the same version of the .NET Framework installed as you developed it under? It appears you're developed it under 2.0.

Hello,
I created a C++ project and after I created an install project with my C++ output.
Visual Studio automatically detects C++ dependencies (MFC71.dll : VC_User_MFC71_RTL_X86_---.msm and MSVCR71.dll), but when I install these 2 Dll are in my install folder not in Windows System folder.
How can I put these 2 system dll directly in Windows System folder ?
thank you,
Freg

Hello,
I need to make an installer using the VS2005 Setup Project.
One of tasks is a language selection dialog.
The User Interface of Setup Project doesn't include an appropriate dialog
Because none of the dialogs doesn't comprise at least a ComboBox.
Using of Custom Action is not useful Because it appears too late in a middle of a installation process.
Any ideas?

I´ve made a desktop application in C# (.NET 1.1) and now I would like it to run in a local intranet. I know that I can change the .NET configuration on each client and give the application FULL_TRUST permission on the machine ... but isn´t there an easier way ??
Each assembly in the application is strong named, and I seem to remember that this should make it possible to have .NET prompt each user for FULL_TRUST permission when the application is initially launch. This would remove the need for changing the .NET configuration on each machine and make my life much easier
Is this possible or is my memory playing me for a fool

Only if your machines are in a domain environment, or some other environment that let's you push down Group Policies. You'll have to put together a Group Policy package that the domain will push down to the workstations.

Hi,
I seem to have a problem trying to reference the components of my already existing windows C sharp application developed using .Net Framework v1.0.3 to v1.1.4. I tried giving a reference path to the folder containing the DLLs of the new components, but it doesnt work.
Do I need to uninstall the previous .Net Framework and is that safe? By that I mean will my code complie with the new framework. Please help.

Vijaykumar Rajaram wrote: I tried giving a reference path to the folder conta
You can't set a reference to a folder. It has to be to the .DLL itself. You MAY have to recompile the .DLL under the new framework if your .DLL's code won't run under the .NET Framework 2.0 without modification. There ARE breaking changes that exist when running 1.0 or 1.1 code under 2.0. THe list of which you can find here.[^]
An application can only load and run under one version of the .NET Framework at any time, so all of your code that your app needs must run under the same version of the .NET Framework.
Vijaykumar Rajaram wrote: Do I need to uninstall the previous .Net Framework
No, you don't. Each version of the .NET Framework peacefully co-exists with the others.

hey
I am making an HTMLEditor, and one bug which has been annoying the living hell out of me for ages suddenly reared its ugly head.
When typing, the rtb receives text, as it should, but when I click into another control (ie a textbox in a toolstrip) and then click back onto the textbox, it will not enter text from the keyboard.
It accepts cut/paste commands etc, but not from the actual keyboard.
I can only think that some variables have not been reset in one of its keydown events, but there are no obvious errors I can find.
I was hoping someone had some sort of experience with this bug from previous coding.
This code really is too long to post (2500 lines in the main form) but if anyone wants to see it specifically I would be more than happy to share it. The idea of this post was to find an alternative to it being an error in the events.
Regards and thanks a lot in advance

I am building an app for windows a device that uses Window CE.....Every time i try to run the app in the emulator it bombs out on load saying:
Application Preformed an illegal operation and will be shut down. exc
Exception: 0xc0000005
Address: 03fd1a02
the only thing my for is doing on load is setting the text in a label...of course it does more than that, but not untill someone at least clicks a button. Im getting this error before the program even fully launches.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Pablo
Never Mind...I figured it out, it was the icon i put on my form...so i guess you cant use icons in the compact framework? Everytime i put one on it bombs out in the emulator...maybe i need to copy the icon to the app directory on the device?

Hi all i have 2 java Web services and i had reference to those object from .net client.
The 2 webservices shares common data object (for example object called UIObject)
When i get those web service in my .net environment it refer to UIObject as 2 diffrent objects. one belongs to the first WS and the other to the second one and he doesn't recognize it as the same object.
does anyone know how can i solve it?
Thanks,

Hi all.
I have a little problem and I can't solve it myself already 2 days.
I have an ASP.NET web application, it has static reference to an datamining assembly which collect some data. DataMiner loads some drivers using simple factory
DriverController's (Factory) static method LOADDRIVER:
<br />
private static IDriver m_driver;<br />
Assembly Driver = Assembly.LoadFrom(m_driverInfo.FullPath + m_driverInfo.FileName);<br />
m_driver = (IDriver) Driver.CreateInstance(m_driverInfo.TypeName);<br />
return m_driver;<br />
than, DataMiner works with driver by invoking its method
<br />
public double GetMetric(string MetricName, params Object[] args)<br />
{<br />
return (double) this.GetType().GetProperty(MetricName).GetValue(this, System.Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic | System.Reflection.BindingFlags.Default, null, null, System.Globalization.CultureInfo.CurrentCulture);<br />
}<br />
Driver has properties named accordingly metric names. This properties invoke remote web service's methods for getting values.
When i have simple winform application instead of webapplication - all works, but in case of web application any of Driver's properties fails on remote web service's method invoke with InvalidOperationException (message: There was an error generating the XML document.) --> Inner exception: InvalidCastException (message: Specified cast is not valid.)

Hello...
How can I make a program to convert from one extension to another??
for example from .mp3 to .wav or ram and vice versa..

Get the specifications for each format and work out what you need to do to convert the data from one to the other. The other option is to buy in a pre-built API or look at open source projects that already do this. For example there is already an open source project called LAME that provides code for converting in to and out of MP3 format.

what is the use of JIT complier in .Net Framework

It compiles the MSIL code in your .EXE's into native processor code just before it's needed. The JIT is also heavily used by the Visual Studio IDE to help out with Intellisense, code completion, Immediate mode in the command window, and a bunch of other things.

I need to find a way to end an asynchronous call without letting the callback function run.
The call is a networkStream.beginRead, and I need to stop the object from reading the networkstream, without closing the connection.
Any ideas?
