Connection string are for database connection. I'm not sure why in IIS 7.5 you get an error. Have you checked www.connectionstrings.com/[^]

Hi,
I am facing a serious issue. I have a web site under development. I am using crystal report for reporting purpose. it was working well without any problem. but two days back i couldn't open the reports. i am getting the error "Failed to open the Document". Failed to create the crystal query engine.
While debugging i got the following error
The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception. I hope it is the prob with the crystal report along with the visual studio. Is there any solution for this...

Have a look at this thread discussion[^]. Sounds like similar issue and they were able to resolve.

Hi there
I'm wondering how to create a special character in design view (inside a label)?
For example I wanted to create a game and underneath the header have the copyright character followed by my name. I went to MS Word and searched under symbols and used Alt+0169 on the num pad.
This all worked while I was in Visual Studio. Although once I tested the website (using Ctrl + F5), the character came up as something different.
Is there maybe a different code I can type in the label that will make the webpage display the same symbol? :-?

hi
i should not allow user to view/edit a file in a folder if that file is viewing/editing by some one at the same time. like check in and check out option in VSS, can any one give me a suggestion that how can i do this.
i have planned to do like, when a user opens a folder i will place a flag in backend and will not allow other to open, but i dont think this is only way.

Create a "lock table" which your application can access and implement a system that would write entries like:
Resource ID (filename),DateTimeStamp,User,LockMode
You would then check this table before allowing a user access to a given resource. This also provides you with an audit trail and a method of who currently has the resource for exclusive access.
Something to think about ...
|
|
|
|
|
So whenever a user views a file in a folder it locks every other user out of the entire folder even for viewing? That doesn't sound like a very convenient system.
How are the files presented? Are they on the file system? Are they streamed from a database?
Is there some reason you are doing this yourself rather than using the free version of sharepoint that does document check-in/check-out already?

I have seen many utilities and tools which promise to make my website best ranked in search engines...
what do you think? which one I should use for my ASP.NET website?
|
|
|
|
|
IMO, Using third party tools to make your site best ranked in search engine is not ethical. Instead of doing that, while developing your website, follow Search Engine Optimization guidelines. Then Automatically it'll come in search engine results.

You need to read more about SEO[^]
and also check all Search engines are there own webmaster tools.
|
|
|
|
|
The two previous posters are spot on, read the optimization/webmaster guidelines for the search engines you are targeting. Sitemap XML generators are good, but beware of the backlink merchants: google has blacklisted some of these, if you are caught your ranking will go down.

Good Day all
i have a dummy javascript that can trap for enter key on the client side
function Enterkey()
{
var textb = document.getElementById("<%=TextBox1 %>");
if(window.event.keycode ==13 && textb.value.length > 1)
{
alert('Something will be Returned');
alert(textb.value.length);
}
return false;
}
and on my server side , i am trapping for textlength with something like this
if (TextBox1.Text.Length > 1)
{
}
elseif(TextBox1.Text.Length > 1 && "And the user Pressed Enter")
{
}
now look at the Elseif part, if the textbox is greater than and the user has pressed the return key(Enter) then it should execute the do whatever condition. i could do this on the client side , but my app requirement has changed so some of the code is on the server side.
how can i achieve this
Thanks
Vuyiswa Maseko,
Spoted in Daniweb-- Sorry to rant. I hate websites. They are just wierd. They don't behave like normal code.
