Herself managed to break her phone just before Crimble - and since she only uses it once in a blue moon for emergencies (and it's normally flat by then anyway) I got her a £10 cheapy clamshell from ASDA on TMobile PAYG.
It's a tiny Samsung, has a four week battery life, won't make calls when she stuffs it in her pocket and receives calls fine.
But...try as I might, I can't seem to get any money onto it. I've found three different ways via t'interwebs, all of which fail at the beginning or just after entering my card info, tried 150 on the phone which failed after the card info with a "system down" message, tried two different cash points (and can't even find the instructions to top up there) and the only way left is to shell out money in advance on a top up in the supermarket which may work (or not, I haven't tried yet) or return it for a refund...
It is possible that I have become too unskilled to be able to give people money...
So - anyone on it? How do you top the stupid object up? Or have TMobile gone bust and I hadn't noticed?

I'm on T-Mobile in Hungary, I just go into any store with the payment logo and jobs done. I have seen similar here in Co-op amongst others.

Thanks - I'll give it a try later then! I'm just reluctant to spend money if the result isn't going to work - I'd rather get Herself another phone and give this back for a refund!

It's not clear from your post but I take it you have a new simcard too.
Generally simcards need activating before you can charge up the account with dosh.
So if it is a new simcard and you have not activated it you will need to search for the activation section online - I think you will need the IMEI number from the phone(should be on the phone somewhere in the battery compartment or accessible from a key combination on the handset) as well as the sim card serial number to activate the sim.

The sim came with the phone which is network locked to TMobile (or I wouldn't be playing with it)

Yep - that was one of three ways I found on the internet. It lets me fill out all the info, enter my card details, goes to my bank verification screen for my card payment password, then...
[16.05.86] You have exceeded the current payment limit on this account. And I know the card I used has more than £5 behind it! 
The EE / T-Mobile help is worse than useless: it just directs you to that screen (or the registration screen for cards which permanently complains their systems are down after you have filled everything in) without giving you an option to talk to anyone, even if they are in Mumbai...

Yes, the downside of their website is that when it does not work, it really is impossible to figure out why. The Orange helpline used to be in Plymouth, and they were reasonably helpful. But of course that may now have changed.

Have you checked with your bank that nothing has been charged yet ? I once ended up loading more than 200€ on my phone by repeatedly trying to add 20€. The website crashed, but the money was indeed transferred.

Good, better that way. Back then, I could not cancel the loading, and could only use about 15€ from the 200€ before the end of the month, after which the amount was reset to 0. 
I tried to file the company, since their website crashed and they would not give me my money back, not even part of it, but it got sold to another company in the middle of the case, so the new company said it was not their fault, and the old company did not exist anymore.

According to one news feed "Nick doesn't own anything, no house, if the Lawyers..." so he doesn't own a house, by reason his wife? (or partner) does or he is a "Leech living on the back of the Tax Payer" (please...) So either he is one of the mass of people claiming the rock n' roll or he was 'bright' enough to ship everything to the other half (run please...)
