Beware the unsubscribe link - that can just tell them that the email address is being monitored by a human - upping the value of your email address!

I think this is mostly a myth. I've set out to get myself off a ton of mailing lists, and the unsubscribe links nearly always work. I also believe they are legally required to exist, and work.

It really depends on whether the email is from someone where you have previously subscribed (in which case it is almost certainly legitimate) or just a random spam email.
If 'random' spam, then the only reason for putting an unsubscribe is for them to get you to click a link.
And it's unlikely that it's for your benefit

Yeah, I guess that is true. gmail's spam filter is excellent, anything I sent, I (somewhat) signed up for.

They do pretty well!
I guess handling the amount of mail they do, they have the advantage of being able to see that multiple emails are being sent to many subscribers, and mark it as suspicious - especially as more and more users mark it as spam.
A good reason for the tinfoil hat brigade to stop worrying about them 'reading' your email!

Yeah, I've had people be shocked, not thrilled, when they google device shows them that they have a flight today, and the gate number. Yes, their code read your mail. No, I don't see how that can harm you.

My impression is that spam filters use by companies like google don't just work on the content but also on the number of similar emails sent out together with whether the name of the recipient is in the email.

What is really weird that he got most of his points at the end of 2012, but he's member only for 8 months...

Krunal seems to be an amazing fellow - he has after all accumulated a whopping 21.937 rep points after answering just 21 questions ...
Seems we have a hiccup in the system that has removed nearly all of his answers.

I guess those equations were rather wildly recognized as meaningful ...
I guess it's time for a recompute of the rep points - which I guess will hurt my score something fiercely
I guess that was a lot of guessing ... or maybe the hamsters did something bad ...[^]

While there is probably a bug in CP, Krunals answers (and Krunals answers too ) aren't terribly bad.

It seems the hamsters went ahead and removed the rest of his answers, so Chris will probably not feed them until they are restored ...

Some of his answers are quite good, some certainly took some time to write. I don't think he's gaming the system or not trying to help, I think there was just a hiccup in the logic somewhere, or a hiccup caused by his having had two accounts.

Seems you're right ... it seems all his questions, and nearly all his answers have been removed by the hamsters - I guess Chris will get them restored in short order ... or at least he will get the hamsters to do it ...

Jepp, so I've modified my postings - they suddenly started to look quite stupid
If I remember correctly you once pointed my in the direction of Lacuna Coil[^] - which I've really enjoyed.
Do you have any other good recommendations?

Probably. I like them a lot. Have you heard Nightwish[^] ?

I admit I've not. I do love the new singer ( Floor Jansen ), she was with them when I saw them and she was amazing.
