It was a good start, yes - and eventually formed the basis for a scientific investigation: astronomy.
In the same way, alchemy became chemistry because chemistry worked, and alchemy didn't. And the "humours" theory of sickness died when medicine was shown to work a whole lot better.
But there are people who make their money scamming the vulnerable with homeopathy, with crystal healing, and yes - with astrology. And who convince the credulous that the position of Saturn 50+ years ago will cause a tall dark stranger to fall in love with them tomorrow...
