I've ranted enough about my coworkers, the mess happening at work etc etc. And I've always enjoyed the anonymity. My mates never going to trace me out here , read my messages and manipulate things out of it. That's great!
But now I'm thinking to write some articles here and share the link to mates. The risk of people getting into my message history and find out, in each my rants , which character they would fit into and turn hostile elements at work place. Though the chances are less someone would snoop into these, but it's possible. So I'm gonna create a "Professional account" that I'd just use it for writing articles alone.
If there was an option to mark a message as "Never show up in message history" that would save me from this circus, possibly.
- Update : The key purpose of this message is to suggest , there could be an option in the Message editor to mark a message as "Don't list in history". Not just about creating multiple accounts on the go. I just stated the problem!

You could always go back and edit your 'dodgy' messages and reduce the probability of them being discovered....(I say reduce rather than remove because obviously internet cache's could still have them)
but that would take some effort...

I've often thought an anonymous account to really let rip would be desirable.
However, using my real name, or something very close to it, keeps me from saying things or revealing details I may later regret.
I think.
I don't think I've ever put anything up here I wouldn't, or haven't, said in the office.

While my moniker is obviously not my name I often reference articles, including mine, in my work so they all know who I am including at least 3 levels of management!
I'm reasonably circumspect with details of the company I work for out of a desire to retain the job, however bitching about the work environment is done both here and in my bosses ear! Open plan is for chooks!

My mother always told me that you shouldn't say something behind someone's back that you wouldn't say to their face.
And mostly, I try to keep to that - because I can see the sense in it: if you don't have proof then don't say it. And conjecture and surmise are not the same thing at all.
I'd use my real name here (I was going to, but it was taken when I joined) - but it's not difficult to find out who I am, or the approximate (to within about 5 miles) location of my house. Heck, it's in an "interview with..." article! 
Sometimes, it means biting your tongue and saying nothing for a while - but I also follow the Dilbert concept of email with posting: Obligatory Dilbert[^]

There is no saying how your words could be misinterpreted by someone somewhere. Internet shaming is all the rage, and potential employers could find out about you from what you post.
A separate anonymous account is the only safe method to post what you honestly think.

Just make sure there's about a 100 posts between your article and your last rant.
I don't think coworkers will actually check your message history (they really have better things to do).
But the few that do certainly won't go back a 100 messages.
I've posted some sh*t on here about coworkers in the past.
Even I can't find the posts anymore, let alone coworkers or employers

Just create 2 accounts. I think you need a separate email address per account. I have been thinking about doing the same thing, for a while now. I could never use Slacker007 for anything "serious".
There are quite a few members here, that do the same thing, already.

This is why I always use my real name online - as a reminder never to post anything that I would not want my employer/neighbours/friends to read.
I think that the possibility of this happening is an important moderator on the level of ranting/abuse. I would therefore vote against such an option. After all, we can only be judged by our posts, warts and all.
OTOH, I would not require everyone to use their "real" names because of possible repercussions in some countries.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

That's a good idea. I have the opposite problem. I often hit the Cancel button after I've written a rant about the retard brilliant person I have to work with. I need to create a "can't track back to me" account. Then again, just writing it seems therapeutic enough so that I have the wherewithal to actually Cancel the post.
But then I'll just forget to check who I'm signed is as and post the wrong thing on the wrong account.

I vote that you create another account just for your rants! You and JSOP have some of the best rants around. Not that your other posts are drivel but a good rant is most enjoyable - from the outside!

That sort of defeats the point of that list.
You can use the search page[^] to efficiently get a list of your own messages. The "List all messages" is actually for others to see what you've written. Either to follow your witty repartee or to spot the spammer / abuser.
So no - that option won't be added. Sorry.

It's an oldie, a lot older than me anyway, but I've listened to Terry Callier quite a lot in the past.
This week I came across it again and put it in my playlist.
The result was me swinging and playbacking to some good old jazz in my chair at work 
It made working a pleasure and I got a lot of work done
