Varanus Salvator. While the venom of these critters would (usually) not be fatal to adult humans, the bite would almost certainly carry a whopping load of bad-ass bacteria.

The Thai word for this beast is one syllable, and is considered a very "impolite" word (I'll spare you further exegesis); the word is so "unlucky" that people instead substitute a phrase meaning "silver and gold." Very unlucky to even see one of these, and even more unlucky to kill one. Said with the wrong tone, in the wrong context, to a woman, the word could get something a man considers quite valuable cut off.
