In a conversation yesterday, someone said in 20 years, fossil fuels vehicles will be obsolete and we will all be driving electric vehicles.
So.. let's look at that.

Most transformers are designed to provide power to up to 4 hours; if each house has an electric vehicle, the transformer is not designed to provide that much power... it is designed for current residential use.
So... who doesn't get a full charge?

Also, transformers in operation are designed to cool down overnight... during the lower use period. If you are charging your vehicle at night, then the transformers doesn't cool down which reduces its life span. The utility company can replace the transformers, but that will increase your monthly bill because they have to recoup the costs.

There is an established fuel delivery system for gasoline and diesel. Who is going to put in all of the charging stations along the interstate highways and maintain them? What if you pull in to recharge and all units are busy? Are you willing to wait a few hours?

Food for thought...
