Not really, except for Apple of course. You, as a customer/developer pay for nothing, The application store should have been a safe-place to install applications from and you (as developer and as customer) pay for it to be so, but in reality there is no compensation for the fee...

I've logged into my account and the fog has descended. I have VS2015. Microsoft, your project migration SUCKS, and I'm being generous. I don't want 2017.

and the cherry on top - so I finally find the 2015 download.. it plods along for 4+ hours (really?), and when it is done - it's a dev environment, compiler, linker... it needs to reboot the server to complete installation? really?

So we had a meeting with the CIO (and his lackey) last Friday, where we discussed our departments special considerations regarding the update to Windows 10. We had all agreed that we would update ONE specific machine, and install our special apps on it to verify the compatibility with Win10.
Yesterday at 4pm, we were told that four of our boxes would be updated via an image "push", and none of the targeted boxes were the agreed-upon test box. To avoid being force-fed the upgrade, the four targeted machines were powered down.
Today, we were told someone from IT was going to come up and manually install Win10 on the test box, as well as our special apps. He was supposed to be here 15 minutes ago, so there is still some question as to whether this is really going to happen.

It seems that the controlling entity had informed our IT department at least A YEAR AGO of the now looming deadline, and NOTHING was done to begin/address the process until the end of last month.
Also, our less-than-1-year-old Dell machines were announced as "not compatible" with Win10. Out of curiosity, I googled the machine, and Dell does indeed have a driver pack available for it, so I suspect that because the machines aren't the "standard" machine given to everyone else in the facility, they wanted to replace them with those lesser machines instead of doing the leg work needed to retain them. Our boxes have more memory and cpu/video chops than other machines in the facility, so the "standard" image is indeed probably not technically compatible with the boxes we have due to additional driver requirements.

Given the fact that the DoD has a standard for making chocolate chip cookies, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a US Federal standard for fruit baskets, too.

Soundsa about like the last place I worked, guarded by military police. I couldn'y enter with my laptop due to security concewrns, but a 1 TB USAB drive was perfectly fine!

At our office, they smartly tested the image push method and found it didn't work as expected.
So, our technical support team is in the process of visiting every PC in the organization individually to do a manual install (we're small, about 150 - 200 PC's). I'm on the schedule at the end of March.
