as a family photographer..
I love taking "candid" photography. I don't know why it's called "candid". I would just prefer to call it natural-shots.
I usually do the photographer job @ our family events.
But the kids these days get so offended by the natural snaps I taken about them, on the move, unprepared for a pose. They are SO obsessed with beauty. The teen girls & even BOYS. So much concerned about their appearance. The moment they take a snap on their phone(After it passes all their criteria), it's there on their Facebook or as their WhatsApp or someapp profile photo. Is this not madness?
One teen was so arrogant in calling me out as a "crooked photorgrapher" in public, as I had captured her with a great smile, showing off her teeth. A natural smile, obviously looked beautiful to me. It DOES look beautiful, that's the fact. But she was so mad calling that as a disgrace for her beauty. I went on check, what she's calling as beautiful. I checked her Facebook page, there were a million kitten-lipped tight smile without exposing any of the teeth. It was so awkward to see someone looking ditto in hundreds of photographs. The same angle, the pose, the same smile with those heaped up lips.
How fake this can get! That one pose what she believed to be beautiful is what she was all looking for , from a photographer. Another boy screemed as his hair style was off , and I didnt bother to call him to correct it before taking a snap. I think I'm never going to focus on any teens.
(12 to 25) is extremely beauty obsessed. And there was one married girl 30+, she was mad that I captured her boundaries. She came to me and taught me how I need to capture. i.e to capture at the centre of her body, so zoomed in, that viewers don't get an idea where her body begins and ends. & they should assume she is slim. How great!

Sounds like you need some sort of twilight zone style camera that takes pictures of what people really look like. That would be more fun.

Also don't forget the filter that makes their skin look unnaturally smooth.
I know this woman, and she's really a nice person, but I didn't recognize her on Facebook because of all the filters she adds to her pictures 
She's probably just really insecure

Some of the oldest portrait-photo's seem similar; old people looking straight at the camera, never smiling. Now you have to force a smile according to the latest meme, or you are signalling to the world that you are hopelessly uninformed.

If you're there to capture the moment, than that is what is going to be on the picture. There's no need for them to like the reality they're faced with.

For many years I was defacto company photographer. Partly because everyone else took such bad photos and partly because I'd become rather facile with Gimp 2.
Taking pictures of people really really sucks. It seems no one's happy with what they look like.
For family shots (fortunately, others have joined in on the duties), I like having a super-zoom (Kodak Z990) - getting full sharp frame portraits from quite a distance away (great for kids eating messy food). No one's the wiser.

Sorry chaps for no CCC yesterday - blame Windows fu??ing updates - totally screwed file and folder permissions on two of our servers which resulted in all our scheduled jobs failing and all that goes with being horrible - thanks to OG for stepping in ( he's used to it )
