Have to say I agree with the Picpoul wine, I always thought it the best wine to use, and it is particularly cheap and nasty to drink (at least it was cheap in France).
Comte emental and gruyere were my cheeses, but havent tried it in the UK, so I'll have to do some experimenting:
1) Bavarian smoked? We get this in the UK, soft, creamy, and nicely flavoured.
2) Old Gouda/Amsterdammer? Really rich and flavoursome.
3) Cheddar? What CANT you cook with this cheese? But the cheap generic type or the crystaline burns your tongue?
4) Any other cheeses in the UK worth using?
As always wipe the pan with garlic and add a bayleaf plus cornflour.
Wine or beer? How about an IPA?

I used to have one that ran on meths, but that got harder to find, so I switched to a tea-light powered one. Start it on the stove, then transfer to the tealight on the table - and begin getting ratassed with friends ...

Deffo go for the Comte ... but not the young stuff you get in the supermarkets ... try a 24 month aged, much more flavour and less sweet.

A good German lager; which you could also use in the fondue itself, instead of the traditional wine.
Any cheese that's left, can be frozen and grated to go over future pizza's.

For the cheese : Usually 60% beaufort, 20% comté and 20% tomme de savoie
For the wine : vin jaune, or a chablis, or even a pinot blanc or a riesling from ... (guess where) ... Alsace.

I am thinking of English ingredients though, hence my question about beer and cheeses I can get here. I particularly think the smoked Bavarian could be very interesting, but I doubt you have tried it, so wont know its unique creaminess and smokey flavour.
It is what to mix it with thats the question, probably something not to overpowering.
(And I used to use Cantal entre deux as well, has a dryness that works well)

I have a question about the search feature on CP:
I want to find any messages that contain more than one word, but they don't have to be together.
So as an example, let's use my CCC thread for today. I wan't to search words "CCC" and "Malevolent". In this case I would get a result of Super's post which contains "CCC" in the subject, and "Malevolent" in the message body.
Is that possible?
Just to be clear, if I search "CCC malevolent" then I do get the macth I want, but I don't want to see the mactches for other "CCC" that don't contain "malevolent". So I am looking for some sort of AND query function.

It looks like you found it 
AND is by default. Go on the code project front page and click on the blue button "Search our articles" on the top right, you'll end up on the search page with a popup tooltip explaining the keywords.

CP search is pretty much unusable.

Actually, the 'instructions' are slightly outdated. "CCC malevolent" will do an or search but results with higher relevance, such as having both terms will be listed first.
There are two ways to accomplish the search you want:
- "CCC AND malevolent" as explained by someone else
- "+CCC +malevolent" where the '+' denotes a required term. Note: '-' denotes a must not include term.
Basically, this is a Lucene Query, so the Lucene Query syntax applies. Apache Lucene - Query Parser Syntax
