My "cheat" version:

INGREDIENTS
For the rum syrup:
    • 150 g sugar
    • 1 vanilla pod, split lengthways and seeds scraped out and set aside
    • 150 ml rum
For the chantilly cream:
    • 200 ml double cream
    • 2 tbsp caster sugar
For the doughnuts:
    • 6 plain doughnuts
    • honey, for drizzling

METHOD
1. For the rum syrup: Put the sugar and 750ml water in a pan over heat, stirring regularly. Add the vanilla pod and bring to the boil. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the rum. 

2. For the chantilly cream: In a bowl, mix the cream with the caster sugar and the seeds from the vanilla pod. Whisk together until the consistency reaches soft peaks. 

3. For the doughnuts: Drop the doughnuts into the hot syrup and using tongs, turn them so that they absorb the liquid. 

4. Arrange the doughnuts on a plate. Drizzle the rum syrup over the top and use two spoons to form the cream into 2-3 dollops (technical term: Quenelles) to place on top. Drizzle with honey and serve.

May be considered slightly high calorie^*

I am working on a WPF app at home.
I am really excited about the new .NET Core 3, Preview 1 announcement. Many things are great, but if I were to single out one feature in particular, I would single out that I will be able to deploy my app standalone, no .NET Framework dependency needed! OMG | :OMG:

However... I don't really want to install preview product on my machine, nor work in a VM...

So.. well.. mm.. I guess I will have to wait.
The wait is unbearable...
Any ideas when this will be going gold?!

Platform Support

.NET Core 3 will be supported on the following operating systems:

Windows Client: 7, 8.1, 10 (1607+)
Windows Server: 20012 R2 SP1+
macOS: 10.12+
RHEL: 6+
Fedora: 26+
Ubuntu: 16.04+
Debian: 9+
SLES: 12+
openSUSE: 42.3+
Alpine: 3.8+

Chip support follows:

x64 on Windows, macOS, and Linux
x86 on Windows
ARM32 on Windows (coming with preview 2) and Linux
ARM64 on Linux

For Linux, ARM32 is supported on Debian 9+ and Ubuntu 16.04+. For ARM64, it is the same with the addition of Alpine 3.8. These are the same versions of those distros as is supported for X64. We made a conscious decision to make supported platforms as similar as possible between X64, ARM32 and ARM64.

Docker images for .NET Core 3.0 are available at microsoft/dotnet on Docker Hub, including for ARM64.

Give in. VMs exist for that reason. They let you test the water with both feet.

When the worst that can happen can be undone with a Rollback command, why hesitate at all? That's what being on the bleeding edge is all about.

My point is that VMs reduce that price. Consider rolling back a screwed up VM, vs restoring a physical machine (even if you have a recent full-disk backup) or even worse, re-setting it up from scratch...
