They say: if the machine is otherwise OK (including the fuse) some crap may get into the slide switch to stop it sliding to / staying in the on position, in which case clean it out.
(Singapore is not quite that bad, but being here I've become more adept interpreting Chinglish.)

Ah! So if the vacuum release fails, there is a slide switch inside which lets you open the top. Makes sense now.

Now it might just be me but when my appliances start smoking, I tend to shut them off and replace them... unless of course the appliance in question is a smoker, in which case only 12 more hours til brisket!

It's a joke, a spoof on "Cards Against Humanity". It is taking the pee out of people who like those games and as the project isn't genuine it will eventually get deleted by kickstarter so it won't cost the backers any money. You seem to be the only person who doesn't get it

The only way I think that a device like that could be useful is if the spoon could analyze the chemicals used in whatever you were eating.
On second thought... maybe best to leave well enough alone. I think I would stop eating if I new what really is in all of that processed food we get from the market.
