Hi all,
I got a new pixel 3a phone and I love it. Simple, fast enough and make delightful pictures.
This said, that phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor that is compatible with Quickcharge 4.0.
Now I'm travelling a lot for work and I use a lot the GPS in the phone... And of course I need to charge it during the travel.
I've read plenty of articles around telling lot's of reasons why it's not good charging the phone in the car... but given I need to do it...
What would you recommend?
A) Simply go for a big amount of amperes, that will give the max power to your phone. And as the phone is the one who demands electricity it will receive only the needed.
B) Use a power bank, that way the non constant electricity coming from the car battery won't destroy the phone.
C) Get a charger that complies with the Qualcomm specs and get a Quickcharge 3.0 or 4.0 charger at least.
What would you recommend? If possible giving a technical reason for the recommendation.

Qualcomm. Love the little buggers!
They communicate with the battery and deliver both more volts and more amps; as many as possible and can seriously cut charge time.
But ... and it's a big but ... only if the equipment is Qualcomm compatible. If it isn't, it's a dumb fast charger. My Wookietab is; Herself's Samsung Galaxy S isn't. And I get it in the neck for that one!

Yes.
Both phones and chargers are downwards compatible, so the largest common denominator is what you get.

And get a decent fast charge compatible usb cable... most cheap ones have very little wire thickness, and end up limiting the current to normal charging speeds.

The majority of the articles I recall about car charging being bad are pointing at the factory provided USB ports and the dollar-store specials.
Get yourself a decent cigarette-lighter powered USB fast-charger and you should not have any issues.

Or get a 12VDC->120VAC converter for the car and plug your standard wall charger into that...
Half joking, but that would cleanup any spikes.

My favourite book bar none.
I'm almost too scared to watch it, though. The "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "Dirk Gently's Detective Agency" are also magic, and yet what they did to them on the screen was criminal.

I have to agree that H2G2 (both TV and movie) sucked, and Dirk was Gently destroyed on TV.
But ... the Omens are Good for this one - it was co-written by Neil Gaiman, who was involved with the TV series as well as a producer.
