So we have Friday beers as at work, 6 from 16:00 to 17:30.
Then met someone over from WA. So I think I had 7 pints.
Dropped in to work on way to train station and grabbed 4 more beers.
No beets at home only Bundty OP, wonder how good I'll be in the morning?
Expect to be home 11:20.

A while ago, our local newspaper here in Trondheim, Norway, reported an incident where a fellow had turned violent at a bar. He claimed to have consumed about 25 half liters of beer.
I know one whose father works at the police station; he tells that they had been discussing at the police station whether it is at all possible to take 25 half liters in one night. A few of those guys are big beer drinkers (in more than one sense...), and one of them were laughing: 25 beers? Of course! ... So his colleagues challenged him: On your next night off work, you show us that you can do it!
He did show them. But that wasn't what impressed the most: He took 16 of them before going to the toilet for the first time.
(According to my friend, it is less surprising after you have seen that guy's belly.)

they do not make writing good parsing code simple.
they make writing good parsing code possible.
a hand written parser is still the easiest route for simple things.
but if you need things like the ability to continue when you find errors, a parser generator makes that less terrifying.
parsing data out of a tree, and parsing it linearly out of text using recursive descent is almost the same process. the only significant difference architecturally is where validation happens.

Hi All,
Does/Has anyone noticed Office 365 (mutter!) has changed it's icons. A change but a somewhat pointless change or has there been a security update or am I losing the fine grip I had on reality I had!

I know they changed them quite a bit somewhere between 2 and 6 months ago (I am really bad with time scales when it comes to icon updates).
I haven't noticed any changes recently, but then some subtle changes would probably pass me by as I don't use Office all the much.

Company policy, as it is Microsarft & we are a loyal users! We have to tolerate the powers that be locking our machines to such a level I am amazed that Chrome still works! Any update has to tested and approved by such a long process we only get the updates after a silly amount of time, Yes we are in the top storey of a multilayer office block, card controlled access our desktops have to locked to the desk with bitlocker installed...

Our security nazis disabled the developer tools window on all browsers last week. Now, we can't debug the javascript on the production sites (which we needed to do this week).

Net Nazi's took our admin rights, as out PC's are leased. So we could not use any of the software we needed, they then tell us to carry on using out old network (which was held together with gaffer tape & bent paper clips...) and then have a fit as we have to use 'Unsafe Linux Machines' for some of the dev work...

...to great fanfare, I might add, for which they were widely derided. Someone at Microsoft gets excited over these types of things.
OTOH, we might as well get somewhat excited about these icons - they brought back a tiny bit of color in this otherwise dull, flat, all-white, all-the-time, world...bringing hope that someday, we just might see some amount of sanity again...

When you're the size of Microsoft, developers seldom create icons themselves. They have a whole squad of people on the full-time payroll to do these. They supply the resources; developers just use them.
|

It's not just the icons - they are just the visual clue that things have changed behind the scenes. The most notable change is in the collapsed ribbon bar in Outlook; collapsed it looks like a traditional menu. Clicking the "menu" text brings up the ribbon.
