I don't know how much of a warranty one can get on <= $5,000 budget.
but I agree with you, I lease new, every time. I don't even buy, only lease. I make enough money to afford the monthly payment, and I don't mind. 100% piece of mind.

A 90 day warranty? Not that big of a help. Pay a couple thousand more for a cheap car to have a weak warranty and to deal with a used car salesman. Not for me. There's a reason the stereotype of used car salesman exists.

If a used car already has a problem, you'll find out within those 90 days. If you buy from a private seller and don't notice it immediately, you're SOL, given that most will sell it as is.

There's stereotypes for every profession, including us software developers. Not all of them deserve it. I have an uncle who spent a good part of his life selling used cars, and most of his customers were repeat customers for a good reason. Not all of them are crooks.

I know financing is a dirty word, but:
for my daughter (or son) I'll pay extra $ to ensure safety, a good warranty and reliability
In fact my own girl is studying o'seas right now and about to get a car - delayed only by covid
last things I want is:
- daughter [often] broken down in unfamiliar area any area
- getting suckered into [overpriced] repairs (coz needs to be done right now and cant reach me)
just coz I tried to save a few $
even less that she's a good day's plane ride away (not including time to organise a flight.)

I'd more likely be asking "who is a good / honest / reputable / warranty honouring dealer in the area where my daughter is.
(in my case I've got family nearby, so a bit happier but I'm still asking those questions)

My '06 (bought new) was financed at 0%. My bank couldn't match that.
I had the money and could've paid it cash in one go, but it still made sense to spread the expense over 3 years.

I've never considered it to be much of a "debt" given that, as I had mentioned, I was ready to pay it in full, in cash, when I bought it. If at any time the "master" insisted on getting paid the rest in full as one lump payment, this little slave had the money ready on hand.
I've never bought anything in my life I couldn't have paid in full, upfront, if that's how I had decided to pay for it. For that matter, I've never had a need for a credit card until my mid-30s and started to buy stuff online.

Assassin's Creed: (something vikings) is coming out soon and I think they want to get people back into playing the game prior to the new release.
not sure about the other games; never heard of them.

The problem is that Assassin's Creed games are better when you haven't played one for a while.
I could only manage a few hours of Odyssey as I played it too soon after Origins (which I platinum'd - so a lot of hours).

I occasionally use underscores to follow low-level C++ conventions, like defining signal_t or main_t as the type for a POSIX signal or the value returned by main. And the name of a private data member ends in an underscore.
