Please forgive the expressin error in this message, I am not good at English Smile | :)

I must get the instance reference of a running MS WORD progress in my asp.net webform, I tried
to use Marshal.GetActiveObject() like below，But it throws a exception like "....UNAVAILABE"

Object wordApp = Marshal.GetActiveObject( "Word.Application" )；
----------------------------------

I have found by google a discuss thread below for a same question like me, but it seemed not give an answer at last.

Your question is not clear. Are you trying to get a process handle of MsWord? If yes, is this process running on server?

Thank you very much for your help and sorry for my not clear question Smile | :)

The MsWord process is running on server and it has openned some doc file, and now I'am try to interact with the MsWord process in my ASP.NET application. So I tried to use GetActiveObject to get a objec reference to the MsWord process. But it just throwed a exception.

And the GetActiveObject（）can work well in a C# WINFORM application, while not in an ASP.NET application.

I think the discuss thread I mentioned above in my question may gave the possible reason of this quesion. Here is the abstract of the post:

Based on my research, GetActiveObject obtains a running instance of an
object from the running object table (ROT). Each WinStation has it's own
ROT. The interactive desktop is one WinStation and has it's own ROT and
that is where the desktop application will have registered the running
object. The ASP.NET process is running under a seperate account and exists
in a non-interactive WinStation with its own ROT. That is why it fails.

I think the only way for this to work would be to launch the third party
application process from ASP.NET so it exists in the same WinStation. Of
course the application will then not be visible and the user cannot
interact with it.

This could be the reason why it is failing. BTW, whatever you are trying looks odd to me. If you can tell us why you are doing this and what is the expected behavior, there may be better solutions.

Thank you so much for your help and sorry for my late reply now.

Actually, I'm not really need to let my ASP.NET app to interact with "MsWord", instead, it's an ole server we developed by VC++ by ourselves. Due to my poor English and to express the question here easily, I used "MsWord".

The ole server's duty is doing some special tasks on our server, let's call it "MY-OLE-SERVER" below. MY-OLE-SERVER is running as a sperate process. And we have an another C# WINSERVICE app to comunicate with it. This is not the problem, it's ok for the WINSERVICE app to use Marshal.GetActiveObject() to get reference with MY-OLE-SERVER. But at the same time, our ASP.NET app need to make some deal with MY-OLE-SERVER also and as you know, it's just not running ok.

So do you have any good suggestion for our problem?

Hi,
When the session is timed out if I click on any of the child menu nodes of the tree control in asp.net then it is not responding,corresponding page is not getting displayed and not redirecting to login page. Plz do reply if any of you have idea about this problem

Hi,
Thank you for your reply, here below I have given my problem
I have one treeview based menu control. In showtree(). I am am adding all parent menus to tree view control. In Tree_TreeNodePopulate(), i am calling childs(). In childs(), i am adding child nodes to the parent menus. everythig is working fine. but my problem is when the session is timed out, if i click on child nodes control, it is not redirecting to login page. I tried the following code also but it is not working.
if (Session["UserInfo"] != null)
{
Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this.GetType(), "window", "window.location.href='Logout.aspx'", true);
}

Well, the code you have provided works only when Session["UserInfo"] has value. When session timed out, how are you expecting it will have some value? D'Oh! | :doh:

Looks like you need to change the condition

if (Session["UserInfo"] == null)
{
     Response.Redirect("Logout.aspx"); // Response.Redirect should be enough
}

there are two ways to achieve this..

1) you will have to manually put controlname.text= "";

or programmatically

2)

Are you talking about change the Grid Template Field (CheckBox) Check / UnCheck changed event?

I am having trouble with the Object tag, which I would like to use to show word documents. Unfortunately, when it opens it doesn't show the document? Can someone please tell me what I am doing:
