i've already tried that .. everytime i send it, i receive a "failure in deleviring" msg!! .. so, i can't reach them .. any suggestion?

Find a different hosting company? Seriously, if you aren't able to deliver an email message to them there are probably bigger problems going on. I've never heard of this hosting company before so I don't know anything about their history.
What is the error you receive when trying to send the email through your web application?

I agree, and there are plenty of other good hosting companies out there. I'll stick to http://www.bluedomino.com[^], they are pretty okay.

it's a site powered by Microsoft (Trial Hosting for visual web developer 2005 express) .. it's a great site .. but, i don't know their mail settings .. i'm contacting them through their technical support page .. but, everytime i receive a "failure in delivering" msg!!

Hey,
I am posting this to hear peoples thoughts on different Internet Browsers.
The two i am going to name are 'Mozilla Firefox' which i am currently using and 'Microsoft Internet Explorer'
I prefer Mozilla Firefox because:
1. It has a built in spell checker.
2. If it crashes you can restore your last browsing session.
3. It seems to be faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer
Well that is all i can think of at the moment.
Please reply with your thoughts, and any other points you have about the two different browsers.

I have found that most people's preferences in this matter have less to do with the browsers themselves, and more to do with their quasi-political views vis-a-vis Microsoft...

It crashes? Can't remember when IE last crashed on me.

When browsing? Can't say I've noticed that. But IE definitely first loads from cold MUCH faster than FF on my machine.
I prefer to use IE for browsing because it's more forgiving of )other people's!) bad code and therefore displays more sites better than any other browser. And I don't like the way FF displays (by default, ie unstyled) form fields (text boxes etc) - I just think they're ugly in comparison to IE.
For dev work, I use both, as I need to make sure my work is cross-browser compliant. I do like FF's Firebug though - that is seriously useful.

Not so much crashing as closing without the user closing it correctly, like a fault in explorer or something.
Firefox also has the built in autofill which is very useful if you are sick of filling in your name and address many times over.
Although IE served me well the 3 years i used it, i have it installed and use it sometimes.

Hi all,
well I've just started to learn ASP .NET now and I'm gonna be starting to make a project in it for the sake of learning. I was wondering how some websites (like Yahoo mail!) implement several different color schemes for their interfaces.
Can anyone give a general idea about this and how to approach such a problem?

Couldn't tell you with 100% certainty how they do it, but it is generally done using different CSS stylesheets. Create a stylesheet for each theme you want, pick one as the default, and then apply that stylesheet to your page. When a different theme is selected, you can reload the page with the new stylesheet applied (that's the easiest way, but not necessarily the most user-friendly approach).

yea it seems to be a likely solution Scott. I think they would be storing the prefered style in the database or something to make this preference saved for future use.
but still some advanced features do make question marks in my mind ??

Storing the preferred style in a database would be good to provide the same experience anytime the user logs in. The other option would be storing it in a cookie, but that becomes machine specific.

The advanced features I was talking abt were... well if u must have seen the myYahoo page now and it offers you IFrames (I think) in which it shows u many different modules like horoscope, sports news etc etc and you can customize the modules as well as their placement which is something really nice! but I was wondering how they manage to do all these things.

Actually, I haven't seen the myYahoo page but I have seen pages similar. The conceptual idea behind those "frames" is the idea of "web parts", first introduced (IIRC) by SharePoint several years ago. There are several different ways to accomplish this, depending on the amount of work you want to do and what technologies you want to use. You should be able to find more information on them either here on CP or on Google.

Yea Surely I'll look into that; you know right now I'm learning ASP .net and I'm gonna be making my first project just for the sake of learning now. well I did make a project a long time ago in asp.net 1.0 but I've almost forgotten all abt it.
What buzzes me the most is the fact that there are so many things to learn in order to be a good web developer like ASP .NET (or anyother server side language), JavaScript, AJAX, Xml, Web services, HTML, XHTML, XSL, CSS, then come in those designing tools like dreamweaver, frontpage photoshop and bla blah blah...
right now I know things like ADO .NET, XML, XSL , CSS, HTML, XHTML and a few bits and pieces of ASP .NET, photoshop, frontpage and Javascript .
So really thats quite a lot of work u know. and I'm trying to concentrate on ASP .NET and designing pages right now so that I can start doing some work u know.

Actually i am working on a distributed web crawler and currently in a url normalization phase i don't get one thing and that is what is the difference between http://www.example.com/dir and http://www.example.com/dir/ are these two paths are not identical or they are different, if different then how?

The difference is that an url ending with a slash is known to be a folder.
When you use the first url in a request, it goes like:
browser: "Gimme the file http://www.example.com/dir"
server: "Can't do that. That's not a file, that's a folder"
browser: "Ok, gimme the default file in http://www.example.com/dir/"
server: "Here you go"
For the second url, it't just:
browser: "Gimme the default file in http://www.example.com/dir/"
server: "Here you go"

It works either way, but if you know that it's a folder, there is no reason to write the url without the trailing slash.
