In my wndProc(Message* m) function

I received error:

error C2440: 'type cast' : cannot convert from 'System::IntPtr' to 'PDEV_BROADCAST_HDR'
No user-defined-conversion operator available that can perform this conversion, or the operator cannot be called

How to resolve it????

Message Map from non ui application

Hi

Is it possible to do message maps calls like post and peakmessage from a non-GUI (no window) application? I have an MFC dll with callbacks that i presume can be invoked using message map calls. But as i understand these calls requires a window handle and as there is no window/UI (its a service) I am not sure how i can invoke these callback from the dll.

Are there any related sample code or articles that i can look at?

PS: I am not very experienced with mfc programming so please bare with my silly questions.

What would those callback functions do with a NULL window handle?

This is possible.

Hope ur ServiceMain is in a separate thread. u can use PostThreadMessage to post any message. Then in a loop you can chk for the messages by calling GetMessage or PeekMessage.

Is there an activeX or DLL that I can use that emulates the Insert
Hyperlink GUI of MS Access? I'd hate to have to code all the beauty

When I send a CString to my multiline read only edit control it displays boxes for all of the newline characters. Is there a way to make it automatically move the text to the next line when it encounters a '\n' instead of displaying the newline character?

I am showing tooltip by sending
SendMessage(hwndch,TTM_TRACKACTIVATE,(WPARAM)(BOOL)TRUE,(LPARAM)(LPTOOLINFO)

message to Tooltip control.

When I want to close this, I am sending
SendMessage(hwndch,TTM_TRACKACTIVATE, (WPARAM)(BOOL)FALSE, (LPARAM)
(LPTOOLINFO)&ti);
But How to close this tooltip without sending 2 nd message?. Is there any option which create tooltip with Close Icon(x) in it so that I can close using that icon.
Is there any other options.

I am doing it in Win32 based Application.

In exactly the same way as you did for serveradd and sessionid. Once the incoming data has been assigned to a variable, do whatever you need to with it.

requestquote(sessionid,marketno,tradetype,bye/sell,)etc
how to do that....
by passing a sessionid i have to get all these fields from server and then print....but How??? Confused | :confused:

Your question is way to ambiguous for a decent answer. Out of context, statements such as "fields to print", "requestquote", and "passing a sessionid" don't mean a whole lot.

Your subject says "copy string." How does that relate to what you are after?

Does this not work for you:

I have just taken on C++ and have been thrown in at the deep-end with the developer we had going back to china.

It's obvious that there is something missing and it's probably a library. I have spent hours now trying to decipher what by fumbling around looking for librarys on my machine which match the above in someway and searching the errors on the internet. Now however, i am losing the will to live and would greatly appreciate it if anyone could shed any light on what is going on....

For classes you use listed in MSDN, take a look at the "overview" which will list the requirements. For instance, CTime says it requires the header "atltime.h". Some will list required .lib's etc...

For classes not in MSDN, you should have some available help files to let you know what is needed to use them.

The security cookie stuff sounds like it might be to do with buffer overrun detection, a feature of later versions of VC++ (ie not v6). It's worth checking to see
(a) what runtime libraries you're trying to use (Multithreaded or Multithreaded DLL) and
(b) what your /GS (buffer security) settings are
and trying to make sure they are consistent.

Also check out this link[^] which might give you a little more help.
