Hi y'all,
I am evaluating issue tracking tools. General requirements are:
1. Intuitive, flexible UI.
2. Windows client and web interface.
3. Test case management.
4. Flexible creation of fields and values for issues.
5. Good reporting capability.
6. Dashboard-like feature to present team members with concise summary of issues assigned to them.
Here's the workflow that I envision:
Test engineer generate test cases and enter them into tool.
Test engineer performs test case and finds defect.
Defect details are entered into the tool's database.
Email is sent to development lead to notify of new defect in database.
Development lead evaluate defect and assign defect to developer.
Email is sent to developer to notify of new defect assignment.
Developer makes a correction attempt and change defect state to fixed.
Test engineer who found defect is notified of fix by email.
Test engineer verify fix and either reopen issue if not fixed or close issue if fixed.
In lieu of, or in addition to email notifications, a nice dashboard-like feature where all team members can look to see state changes in issue database relevant to them would be nice. For example, instead of receiving email notification, a new defect report shows up in the development lead's dashboard, a new defect assignment shows up in the developer's dashboard, and fixed defects ready for verification shows up on the tester's dashboard. Team member would check the dashboard a few times a day, or perhaps get Outlook-like balloon notification of new issue events from a system tray icon if using the Windows client.
If someone have used a bug tracking tool that meets these requirements and support the above workflow, please let me know.

I am the former Soviet scientist. Now I live in Sevastopol Crimea Ukraine. I have spent a lot of time for development of methods of designing of topology for IC and printed circuit board CAD. Presence of modern computers and the Internet has allowed putting into practice theoretical development. My program "Images generator", in which these methods are applied, has distinctive features in comparison with popular graphic editors and is submitted in popular catalogues as Tucows (http://www.tucows.com/preview/354617.html) and Simtel. Development of the given methods can go on several directions. In the graphics the economical format of graphic files can be developed. An opportunity of creation 3D images with the help of tools of 2D graphics probable also can be used. Other directions are PCB and IC CAD, graph and network management, layout computation, games.
For using of experience of the developers from former USSR Science and Technology Center (http://www.stcu.int/) was created which policy is directed on encouragement of collaboration between Western and Ukrainian scientists and realization of joint researches and development. The center is financed by the Western countries. To apply for reception of the grants Ukrainian scientist must to have acknowledgement on interest in collaboration from Western researchers and scientific organizations.

I'm planning to update my block_allocator[^] utility so that it works for MSVC 7.0 (aka .NET 2002) and 7.1 (aka .NET 2003). As I don't have local access to these compilers, I'd be grateful is somebody volunteers to do a little test for me. The whole thing shouldn't take more than 10 min. That is a good idea Michael, bring a rich UI to something that tends to lack it on the web, FORUMS. I like CP's forums, they did a nice job, incorporating DHTML for friendly views.

I've got an installer working for my app which is supposed to do the following:
- Fail gracefully if the user tries to install on Win95 or on an account without admin rights
- Download and install IE6 if it's not installed
- Download and install WinNT SP6a if running on WinNT and it's not installed
- Download and install the .NET 2.0 Beta runtime if it's not already installed
- .. then install the app
I'd be hugely grateful of anyone who gives the installer a go and lets me know if it works, or if it fails (and assuming everything installs ok, if the app itself runs properly)

i have encrypted passwords that cant be decrypted, i want to test this Application With Microsoft ACT,
would it work well..
is there any special way to test or it will work fine as in case of simple application.
