I've since spoken with the author and shown him how to make his article less spammy. He isn't associated with the company, he just didn't understand the guidelines. I think he has a much better understanding now. When you see him again please do not destroy him

Highly sexist, not particularly funny, and disrespectful to the very small minority of female software engineers who already have enough of a hard time in this industry, but not technically abusive.

I think you replied to the wrong message. I was just being humorous.
But I agree. The soapbox is intended for to be a place to be offensive. It shouldn't get marked abusive unless it actually is abusive.
