We develop our simulators using a little bit of c#, c++ and a lot of c... all in visual studio.

Interestingly, C was the language I studied with a view to entering the programming industry but I barely used it (only for about a couple of months years ago), as opposed to C++.

Lots of C still happening on the embedded side of things. These are simulators for embedded systems... so try to maintain most of the system, stub a couple of the lower level cpu libs and replace things like the gui with higher level languages.

While making the selections, I just figured I didn't use JavaScript based frameworks — Cordova, Node.js.

Windows 7 32 bit. I did it today, yesterday, last Friday and so on almost every working day since 5 years and 3 months.

...NOT using C# or VB.NET in VS?
Just curious.

It's for C++; the other languages are simply to boost sales as a subsidy for the real programmers.

Forgot about C++, that makes sense too, as does F#.
It just seems odd to use the flagship MS editor for non-MS technologies (although they seem to support everything nowadays)

Remember that, prior to .NET, C++ was Microsoft's premier developer tool and no doubt they will now be using it to write their applications and other developer tools.
(Also Visual Studio Code is sucking in almost everything now with varying degrees of richness. I was recently using it to play with Go and even the yet-to-be released Pony language via Docker.)

Me - at least nowadays. I use it for C++, Python (with VS Python tools) and JavaScript, although am moving to VSCode for most of it.

Just started using VS Code last week, it has some good bits!

Agreed. For a while I've had it installed but sitting there gathering dust so to speak but I've been using it more and more, especially for exploring different tech such as Go.

I assume there are quite a few C++ devs out there. I've done a lot in the past, though only using the earlier partially-integrated Visual Studio 6.
