Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Being a VB.NET developer and a long-time BASIC programmer i general, I finally downloaded C# and am now playing with that. The C-style language is not entirely new to me, though. In the past, I have developed code and things in C++, JavaScript, PHP, and so on, so C# is syntactically the same.
Maybe it is just me, but I really find the BASIC code a lot more charming. To me, C-style code is hard to read, although I do like the language as much as any other. I simply feel that BASIC is a lot easier to read and it is "BASICally" beautiful -- pleasing to the eye. The C syntax looks more like a crossing between Pablo Picasso and some abstract artform.
Be that as it may, the plan is to develop a lot of code in both VB.NET and C# and publish it here in the near future. With the .NET Framework, it doesn't really matter whether you use C# or VB since the CLR ensures that exactly the same code is generated.
I wonder if I can find an assembler for the .NET Framework. That would be kinda fun to play with.
Ask not whether it is useful. Ask what it is useful for.
