These day, at least:
So - I work on an Apache server that installed on Win Server2008R creating web applications that work on essentially every system with a browser.
As was said, some years ago when Linux was on the rise, by a sage of a TV Pundit.
What O/S would win the contest he asked? What would the user's prefer?
His replay was that to the user it didn't really matter - if they can click their icons and run their applications, what do they care what's underneath?
The rise of smart-phones O/S's (and concomitant decline in humanity) show he was right-on the mark.
Thank all the appropriate deities I don't have the accursed "FaceBook Gene"

Because of the fact, that even on Windows you can develop for Linux, and on Mac you can develop for Windows and so on and so forth.
If the survey was like, "which operating systems are you "not" developing code on?", my answer would be macOS. Other devices I have tried once, some were tough so I left and some are amazing; Windows and Kubuntu (KDE based Ubuntu) are my favorite. Kubuntu provides a great set of tools, such as KDevelop for developers to build application software.
Visual Studio Code being a multi-platform product, it doesn't really matter now.

For years I used only Windows and do that at work even today, but I use Fedora as my main OS for more than 8 years now and slowly moved parts of my development... As today (with VS Code and .NET Core) a do more on Fedora (at home) than on Windows (a 80%-20% ratio)...
Even my development SQL runs today on Ubuntu (VM)...

Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Does that mean command-line?
I write a bunch of command-line utilities for Windows; is that a DOS-like system?
Is OpenVMS DOS-like?
(I answered Windows.)
