p.s my slashes were the wrong way, so i can have them in different directories with '/' but not '\'.

thank you, it did work. the problem wasn't in the code. for some reason the web page and the images have to be in the same directory instead of having the images in an 'Images\...'directory.

i have tried the following:

Checking_Site.Value = Checking_Site.Maximum

but i don't know how to tell vb to add more words and find them individually. at the moment it is just looking for 'word1'.


p.s. checking_site is a progress bar which i also have on form1

i understand now why that is happening. thanks a lot but how can i tell vb to wait till the progress bar 'checking_site' gets filled up then search for the word?

by .NET do you mean replace 'InStr' with 'contains'? sorry i am an amateur with .NET

by crash i mean that when i click the button to start the progress bar the software stops responding.and i have to shut it off.

i have tried the above code and that just does wait for the progress bar to finish loading but it does not show the other form.

i think what you have given me is right but there is a problem when displaying the ip address. the ip address looks like this when displayed in textbox3: fe80::c1ee:b98a:13a0:a1a6%11

what would i need to look for to determine whether a website is safe or not? if i wanted to make an automated software which checks for malicious code. this time, without giving me examples.
does this question clear any doubts that i am a script kiddie?
