Oh I dont want to tooltip the buttons. I want to tooltip the title bar area. I used as a directory or to show where I came from, because I reuse some forms for simplicity. So the directory kind of gets big and doesn't show the whole directory. So I just want a tooltip to show where my program came from

What would you choose? I'd prefer a database because I know how to implement it, but I am worried that I'll have too many logs and go over the Bigint index. My web service is going to be ran everyday, and it does 30 methods per second, which each of those does a log. Multiple machines are running so that what makes the 30 methods per second.

{
StreamWriter w = new StreamWriter(fs, Encoding.UTF8);
w.WriteLine(DateTime.Now.ToString("G") + " posting to '" + message + "' to list " + name + " in Database.");
w.Flush();
w.Close();
}
}
}
return post;

I tried doing that and it still came to the same problem. But like the idea very much. Here is how I implemented it:

Why is an event log preferable than a text document?

I could try to do the database way. How do you do the event log way?

Well both programs calls a library which calls this web service. This web service is the one doing the logging. So the web service is being called multiple times. What do you suggest I should do?

Oh hey it is the app.config thing I am looking for. But is this App.Config be accessible to the users after the console application has been saved? Like they can modify it anytime?

.NET languages? Like C# and Visual Basic
But if you know java or java syntax you know C# syntax. It is fairly simply to go between them

Using the performance monitor. Gen 0 Collection and Gen 1 Collection seems to be increasing linearly by 3 per sec. I think it's 3 byte. Over 90,000 methods.

When I do performance check, if things climb up linearly. Does that mean it is bad? Like for example both Gen 0 and Gen 1 climb up consistantly.

I think it does have a memory leak. when I put it on true, every 1000 methods it increases by 2000 bytes >.<

This seems very interesting. I am going to look this up more. Do some speed test on it. Thanks for the idea!

He told me it is going to be millions of time. And the data I am not sure.
Like a small example would be like one list has a list name and a List of strings. But maybe like a linked list because we are just adding things to the end and reading+deleting from the beginning. Like taking out of the queue. But I know there is going to be many list and many messages.
He said if the program doesnt have memory leaks the web service will be on all the time.If it does it will have to be reseted or something. And the data going back and fourth or just strings.
Also how many request per second. All I know it needs to be fast

Millions or Billions, but I have resorted to do speed test for each one.

Well when he is not busy anymore, I would like to present him both solutions. So I have looked up things. I believe using DBF.NET is what I am trying to go for.

Well I know multiple machines use this server, each Posting of a message is id. And each of these machines does 100 thousands times. So I don't know how many times it would do it. I just want to make it fail proof =P

if I do something like
string findId = "SELECT * FROM listMessages WHERE listNames_id IN (" + listName_ID + ")";
SqlCommand findIDCMD = new SqlCommand(findId, connection);
SqlDataReader dr = findIDCMD.ExecuteReader();
if (dr.Read())
{
long ID = Convert.ToInt64(dr["id"]);
return ID;
}
will it give me the first one that comes up?

So if I wanted to add information. Do I add the listName in Table N, then go to table M and have the n_id = listName's id, then put the message?

Hahaha I don't understand that. I am using Microsoft SQL management studio. I have made two tables. One with one column that has listName, and another table with one column that has messages. Is there anything I need to change? And how do I make them related? I am messing with database diagrams right now.

The different parameters would be the different file info list. Like some file info will have only .txt and another pc's file info would have only .jpg
