DDL template field in Details view within a modalpopup - selected index changed not firing

Hi,

I have a dropdownlist as a template field in a details view, the details view is placed in a modalpopup... Based on the value of this ddl I want to hide / show the next field of the detailsview... but the selectedindexchanged event is not firing.. Please help!
