Failed to retrieve directory listing

Error:  Failed to retrieve directory listing

I am getting this error when i am opening directory in ftp.
The main issue is that, I was created a directory in ftp and upload all file in this folder, next time I can not open again this directory, and unable to upload more or existing files. Anyone can help me.,

It says the connection timed out. Either that IS the issue or the way you are connecting is not correct.

I can successfully login in ftp account, and other folders/directory listing retrieve successfully, but only the one directory not open, where i hosted upload the other files.
