Is it good idea to use Sql Server for sending automatic emails ?

Hello there, I have created a job scheduler in sql server for sending automatic email notification to users. I have used Collaboration Data Objects. I created this job for the website I am working on for the time being. please tell me my approach is good or not.

IMO, CDO is an outdated technology. Try SQL Server Alerts[^] instead.

a nice information to save in my brain. :) but a weird think happened.. I followed the following article : http://www.aspsnippets.com/Articles/Automated-Email-Notifications-using-SQL-Server-Job-Schedular.aspx.. I get no error whatsoever but the email is not sent.. the above is using CDO. I just copy pasted everything from this article but nothing works.
