Totally agree.
On the other hand, if it is in your side. I would be interested trying to avoid it in the future.

I read it later and he answered to me as well.

Ok. I'm done
I hope you can narrow it down. Thanks Chris

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Pro Tip: always keep a local copy on plain text. Before saving just copy the entire formatted content and paste it in a .txt.
You can never know...

It means, do not trust on the site. In general in the cloud storage everywhere it's not necessary to have local copies, that's the whole purpose of using cloud storage whatever it is the service. I didn't imagine I could lose the whole article, it makes sense to lose some changes but not many many hours saving the same article.

Which should be cristalline. Flickering connections, browser errors, hacker attacks or defacements that force a hard restore, DEFCON 1... Having a backup is a must, especially for a professional user.

It's not about trust...I also lost an article (worked on 3 months), thanks to my daughter...Since than I have a local, CP and Google drive copy...
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

I think it's a matter of trust. Most of the services of the world do not fail at this level. Now I'm warned this website is not something to trust. When I write big emails in Google I don't think I need to save a local copy, ever, because I didn't have any issue on a draft mail of GMail, ever.

Unfortunately, you saw an issue with the site that happens very, very infrequently. I can appreciate that you are angry but ultimately, what has happened, has happened. Perhaps it's time to calm down for a bit because this is only going to keep you angry and that's not going to do you any good.

I stopped answering to avoid making this a big issue (even when I didn't sleep until 3am to write most of the article) but I keep receiving more comments even when I want to close it.

Thanks, honestly. I feel frustrated because I was writing the article while I was keeping an eye on my daughter that was sick and I was checking out every 10 minutes if she was ok. I went to bed at 4.30am thinking I accomplished something due to I couldn't sleep. It happens sometimes.

She's ok, normal nights when you have a 1 year old girl, children get sick a lot the first years.

Doesn't make it any less stressful. Anyway, I'm glad she's OK.

Maximiliano Rios wrote: I didn't imagine I could lose the whole article A bit of a naive view I think. Why not do most of the work offline so you have it on your PC? Apart from anything else it is generally easier to do that way.

Ok, understood, but we're all more used to Google, DropBox, and so forth, services that's really really weird to lose everything. Nevermind, I don't want to continue talking about how many mistakes I made. Ig you want to say it's my fault, ok, taken.

I don't want to say it's your fault at all. I just think that preparing a lengthy document offline is probably a better idea. However, I also take Chris's point.

I actually agree with Maximilian.
This issue should not have happened. We offer auto-save and so it should work as one would expect.

Maximiliano,
We've completed some upgrades that do two things
1. Fix a bug that was present that would cause a draft to be overwritten with the template text, thus losing your article if you had not saved it as 'Composing'.
2. Added versioning of drafts so that even if the bug in #1 did occur, you'd have prior versions of the article from which you could recover your text.
This doesn't help what you lost, but it should mean you won't experience this issue again in the future.
cheers

Hi,
I am facing this issue for the first time in CP.
I was just trying to draft my article with all the necessary content and I just wanted to be saved automatically (as it used to happen previously) so that later on I can work on it.
Now what I see is, the article that I have been drafting is not saved at all. Also the "Save" and "Save Draft and Exit" button seems to work but does't save my contents.
Sorry If I am re-posting this issue.
Thanks,
Ranjan.D

Which article? this one[^]?
There was an issue with loading article content, but that was fixed soon after the issue appeared.
