I accessed CP over the last couple of weeks when I was in Hungary, so I don't think it is country specific.
I can check next week when I go back.

Request timed out. ip4 és piv6-ra is.

Please do a tracert to codeproject.com and email me (chris@codeproject.com) the results. We'll talk to our IT guys and get this sorted.

Great, and got it.
Could you please email me your IP address (if you're comfortable). Our IT team is saying that ISPs will often block tracerts so what you've provided is helpful but they couldn't get enough info.
cheers

I didn't realize this until just now. I assumed there was a forum dedicated to developing video games, but I've never looked for it. I would post to the "Graphics" forum, but video games are more than just graphics. What's the story on this?

Let's not get into video games.

Oddly, CodeProject works still fine on my oldest Firefox on this machine, i.e. version 44. But on later versions like e.g. 115, it fails.
No submenus popup when I hover over an item like "community".
The login button on the main page fails (um "button"... actually just a text linked to "javascript:;"), but at an other URL (pasted into the browser's address bar), I eventually found a working login.
And the css seems totally missing - even when I disable my proxy.pac script (and it is obviously not the cause because on this old machine, it works fine).
Now I am a little confused.

I run FireFox all the time and have no issues. What you're seeing sounds like it's rendering the mobile view. How wide is the browser window? Have you modified the useragent string? Are you running dev tools and have it set to mobile emulation?

I use Firefox, and I haven't seen any of the issues you describe in any version, including the latest.
Have you tried turning off "enhanced tracking protection" and/or any ad-blocker extensions?
You could also try running Firefox in safe mode[^] to rule out interference from an extension.

After explicitly white listing "codeproject.freetls.fastly.net", the site looks fairly normal now (but in contrast to last Friday, the authentication cookie and some cached files are present - won't clear them). Only the "upvote" / "downvote" buttons are still missing.

We used to have the option to allow private emailed replies to comments posted. In fact, that feature is checked in my settings. But I never see that option displayed in any comment. Did that get turned off for some reason, or is there something else I need to enable.

I think it is no longer available to us mere mortals, but a few demi-gods (Protector status, maybe?) still have it.
The question pops up from time to time, so maybe @chris-maunder could give us a definitive answer.

Yes, one of the demi-gods has already replied to me privately. Hopefully Chris can provide an answer.

Yes, it's Protector - you can (probably) see that from your homepage Privileges tab.

If you look at my profile and click the privileges tab you'll see Protectors are the only ones allowed to email directly.

These days everyone's got 5G through the miracle of covid boosters, and broadband at home.
So why does codeproject warn me about posting a couple of pages of code in "What Have I Tried?" when I ask a question?
Nobody is on dialup anymore. These "bandwidth goggles" seem like a throwback from the bad old days.

It looks like this forum needs the indices rebuilt - it's getting a bit weird in here.
On topic, we still have a local telco that still has Internet customers on copper wires, so dialup hasn't gone away yet. Still, I would think that with a membership consisting mostly of developers and other technically savvy types, all of us probably have broadband coverage. Maybe it is time to retire this "feature."
The mention does bring back fond memories of all nighters spent chatting with early members using this site and early chat applications. One of our first members we ribbed about having only a 1 kbs connection, yet he managed to outpost everyone! He was dubbed "Nishbot" by some. Good times!

When I head back to Australia I'm often sitting on sub-1Mbps internet. In Melbourne.
It's an odd situation but it reminds me every single time that not everyone in the world runs at 200Mbps.
