Good to know. Is this something that my Subeditor flag would allow me to do, or is it unrelated to permissions?

Interesting. Maybe? I don't think so though. Might be admin only.

For animation I might suggest an alternative:
- Create an animated GIF. These should be supported as far as I know (Yeah, isn't exactly what you want but it should still be able to at least show what it might be doing and you don't have the problem that an editor has to update your article etc.)

Not ideal, but I agree, good suggestion.

How Do I Implement High Score System?[^] - if it was the OP then that's fine. If it wasn't could it be re-instated as I was just going to follow up as I said I would last night...

The ListVersions.aspx page[^] says that it was reported as unclear or incomplete.
[EDIT]
I tried un-deleting it by clicking on the "Update" link on the ListVersions page and changing the status to Available, but I got an error page, so I think you need an admin to un-delete it.

It was "unclear" because he was a complete beginner who didn't know what he was doing...and now he's a beginner who was waiting for promised help when I was back at my desktop because coding on a tablet is a PITA.
This "downvote and destroy beginners" attitude some people seem to have is getting rather wearing.
[edit]And because all of his posts were on the one question I can't even reply directly - so I look like an a**hole. Joy...
Why do that guys? There was clearly a dialog going on that was getting somewhere?[/edit]

I don't see any reason, only that it is not available for viewing.
Is that something only for people with Greyskull's power?

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

That appeared after I tried to edit it and made it available again. The actual close reason was "Unclear/Incomplete".

Hi Team,
The bookmark is a very good option though can we have additional options in that. Which mean
Recent Bookmark's tab
It will have last 5 bookmarks. because bookmark simply mean that reading it later what i found something interesting. While adding bookmarks no one will look what category that belongs to so right now we have Category based bookmark. But, after a long way it hard to find in a pool of bookmarks. so if we have some recent bookmark tab that would be help full for recent bookmarks added in users hurry time.
Let me know if any questions. because i was struggling to find a bookmark in my small pool.

You can use the My Bookmarks checkbox on the Search Page[^].

ya we can use it. but when i was searching some thing else in the mean time i found an intersting article, so i won't have time look it to it's category. i just want to bookmark it, later i will have a look but now i can't see my recent Bookmarks ( say for last 5 items).

I am logged in and using IE8.
I am geeting a message from IE 8 that it cannot download the file and to try later.
It is most recet;ly updated IE 8 on XP SP3 so I must have missed something in IE setup.
I would prefer NOT to use Mozilla, it keeps offering garbage applications, so please do not suggest that as a solution.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers Vaclav

Hi
Please check the Top Experts this month section..
It's displaying some unrelated value.

Thanks! Was it the <p> tags that fixed it? If so, it is unfortunate because blogger.com uses <br> tags. I actually wrote the original using <p> but the blog converted them.

I've noticed recently that new users are using the "I've solved this myself!" to show how they have incorporated the Solutions proposed by others and then they get downvote slammed apparently for posting their final state as a new Solution. The downvote makes them hesitant to ask further questions or they think about just giving up on CP.
I don't know how to alleviate this.
Different text? "I solved it myself independent of proposed solutions" ... yeah, way too wordy!
A different way to designate it so it doesn't appear to be an attempt to "game" the points system.
("What I finally did" vs. "Solution #")

How about we don't award points for self-answering questions?
|
|

I don't agree.
If a user finds a solution for the problem he/she should be encouraged to share it.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Thomas A. Edison

Perhaps...
But the solution should do something to discourage the downvoting of the user because they self-answered.
That leaves a bad taste of CP for those users when we should be encouraging them to continue here.

Big No. I have seen more than bunch of enquirers shared solutions(Note : Few of them're first & only answer for questions). I have a habit of voting for those solutions. Recent one[^]
Besides I don't think most of them care about points.
