Thank you! I agree that mutual respect is that really matters. We come here because learning and sharing knowledge is fun. I don't really care about points, collected only 20K in 8 years. Still, voting is fun: I like voting up good answers and rarely downvoting some abusive posts. It would be okay to have only a single vote up button in 99.99% of the cases.

Unfortunately voting abuse is common with members who already have a certain rep.

Could a system work with only a vote up button? To be honest I've never spent much time with thinking about this while you may already have a well rounded answer to this.
With a vote up button you still have the ability to promote/reward good answers while you are removing an evil tool from the hand of abusers. In worst case the abuser doesn't upvote a very good question... You only have to deal with abusive posts after this but I don't think that an abuser would report a normal "answer message" as spam/abusive.

The Lounge has only the upvote button enabled. The other forums have up/down, or none, depending.
It's been a slow evolution

I haven't noticed this, probably as a result of incompatibility issues between me and the vote button style/location.

And it hurts when a platinum member down-votes an accepted answer without leaving any comment. I understand many new users would accept all the answers so that not necessarily mean your solution is correct. But when OP says 'thanks, it helped' and accepts the answer, I do not understand why would someone down-vote it... not at least when the down-voter is a platinum authority and leaves no comment for the vote.
I know this thing has been discussed at least 10 million times ( ) and we have never been able to come up with a perfect solution and we probably never will. So I should go back now, help more people and earn those points back.
Sorry for whining but as I said, it hurts.

I recently saw a solution to a mathematical problem that on first sight appeared to provide a totally unrelated algorithm, and commented on it to that end. The author responded, and when I went back to check the algorithm more closely, I've found that it actually does what the OP was asking for - just in a different context than I expected. I realized the OP wasn't clear about that context, and I, as well as everyone else providing a solution, may have been mistaken. In fact, this solution may be the only correct one.
The author responded again today, but when I went back to the topic, I found the solution gone!
While I still don't know whether or not that solution was correct as the author of the question so far hasn't commented on any of the solutions, or my inquiry about the correct context, I wonder if it's possible to bring back a solution that was removed, or at least view it. Or is it gone for good?
P.S.: I'm referring to Solution 1 in response to I need a simple and working algorithm for finding out the squareroot of a number (preferably a 4 digit number)[^]

Yes. I still don't know whether the answer is good (for the OP) or not, but how did you retrieve it?

It can be tricky, but you can access them through the 'ListVersions' URL - all you need is the ID of the post. I caught a bit of a break because the ID of the Question is 627452 and the ID of Solution 2 is 627461, so all I had to do was try to load a few posts with ID between those. This lead me to:
http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/ListVersions.aspx?aid=627457[^] I then clicked 'current' in the revision table, which is the link I posted in my first reply.
I don't know how Chris feels about making this information available, so don't be surprised if I remove this post. On the other hand, it's all something you can figure out on your own by finding an answer in QA that has been modified and clicking the version link at the bottom (such as the 'v2' link at the bottom of Solution 4 for that Question).

Well, I have been out of work for a while now, so I have had plenty of time for that.

I'm getting a 100 points for updating an article, I guess that counts as a bug

Yea, me too. Doesn't seem quite right.

I get 2 points for updateing a Tech Blog. So you must have gotten a bonus
I also find it interesting I get 5 points for a book mark and only 1 point for a source code download.

I cannot be able to upload images and files in my article. The system says: Unexpected error

Can you please send the images and a link to your article to submit@codeproject.com and we'll have a go our end and see if we can replicat the issue.

I got to the question about title, and discovered that there was nothing there for me. I guess I wasn't surprised to not see "Director", but expect there to be at least something for "Manager". I finally chose "Team Leader", but this has a special meaning in my experience. Maybe (and I might understand this), you can't be a CP Professional if you're in management?
|
|
|
|

"Manager" is so broad. What sort of Manager are you?
Should we add PHB?

Yea, I'm probably a PHB .
My actual title is "Director of Software Engineering". Hey, wait, aren't you a PHB?
|
|
|
|

You need hair to be a PHB. Pointy Haired Baldy doesn't have the same ring to it.

You have to look towards the sides and back, I think

OK, I'll make an addition
