Yeah mate, that's my recollection.
Sure do. I was trying to tell this fella about the HTMLElement's "remove()" method and how it's a better choice than asking the element's parent to remove it.
It was here: https://www.codeproject.com/Questions/1273319/How-to-lay-a-new-canvas-over-an-existed-canvas-and?cmt=1008421#cmt1008421 and was in response to the comment posted at "3-Jan-19 21:57pm"
Yeah, I'd have a look under the sofa cushions. However, bitter experience has taught me that on occasions, under the fridge is more likely to be successful. Naturally, I imagine sometimes the hamsters just forget.
Would now be a bad time to say we're expecting 31°C in Melbourne today?

Yeah, please tell me more about the weather back home. We're expecting -22C windchill here in a few hours so the more you can talk about warm breezes and endless sunshine 15,000km away the more relaxed I feel. No, really.
As to the comment you posted: I checked under the sofa, under the fridge, in the sock drawer and even checked the recycling bin. Nothin.
The odd thing is we had no database errors corresponding to the comment system at that time (in fact none in the last 24 hours). We did, however, have redis errors which shouldn't have mattered but may have contributed. We are in the process of planning a replacement for our Redis client and will actually be switching to the one StackOverflow wrote. God bless their little cotton socks.
As to losing data: yeah, I know. It does happen occasionally and clearly we need to do a better job when our current retry systems also fail.
cheers

Thanks Chris, I really appreciate the fact that you're prepared to look around for a missing post on a site that I don't pay $$ to use.
Well, to be honest - the day is absolutely gorgeous. Birds are out, clouds are virtually non-existent, sky's as blue and perfect as a poster. Put in 5 hours from 5am to 10am - I'll work out when I feel like doing the other 3.... later!
For what it's worth, we're reported to be in for an absolute stinker this year. Last Chrissy never got all that hot, but this year we've got global climate patterns coming round to give us a touch-up. I've put sunscreen on for the last 7 days and been burnt anyway - I don't miss that part of summer.
Here 'go - took these a few minutes ago for yer, enjoy!

It's so typical now to open a thread and read a random digression, usually negative, and without wit, or, style.
thanks, Bill

I'd rather not introduce negativity into that forum at this point.

I'm such a fan of Kent's reportage ... and, I tend to open the responses frequently because there are often interesting replies.

Hi,
Received three copies of the same Daily Build email in under an hour this afternoon. The only difference, the size of first was 52k, the other two were 49k.

We had an issue with out Mail Sender yesterday and it had to be restarted. This is likely what caused you to get multiple copies.

We're updating some Redis and Database servers this morning so service may be affected for an hour or so.

I find the paste option dialog to be very annoying. I always want just a straight paste of the text. If I want to quote it or tag it as a code block I will that myself but I rarely do.
Is there a way this could be made a user preference setting? Given a choice, I would prefer that the dialog never appears.

I think it's useful - and particularly so for beginners who need prompting when they paste code.
My hassles with it are that it nearly always picks the wrong thing and will not stick to what I used last, and doesn't always show all options ...
IMHO any user option for it should select what it displays, not whether!

Maybe this helps? There is a Setting in your Profile: "Profile->MySetting" and then Tab "Forums and QA". Here you see "Default Paste options".

Just tested it myself in the hope "Paste Text only" simply paste it without a popup...
... but it Shows a popup. Ok, the good Thing is, when one continues to write the popup disapears automatically, but I agree that is not really intuitiv.
Finally I agree: Another Option for this Setting soemething like "Paste as text immediately (without popup)" would be desirable

Yeah, we've been working on this for a bit and Ryan has a neat solution we've not had a chance to roll out.
It bugs me too. I get it.

I recall that the icon used represent the status of a person as it was at the time when a post was made. Now it seems that old posts have icon representing the current status.
Is this deliberate?
