I was on this thread, Cos x + cos y = 1, cos 3x + cos 3y = 0. Find value of x and y!, and I was flagging it as off-topic since it was primarily a homework.
The response returned "Success". Great. But it wrote success on every post and comment as well. When we highlight the solutions, or the replies and comments. They all contain "Success". And I did not vote for them, only the question.
Needs to be checked.

I did a search for my messages (dated oldest to newest), and none of the old links that I clicked on took me to the selected message. Instead it took m to the latest lounge post made by whoever made it.
How can I relive my glory days when I can't see the messages? HOW!? BOB, THOU HAST FORSAKEN ME!!! I AM NOT AN ANIMAL!!!!

Can you please send me a link that failed to work?
We need to look up the message by message ID to get the location of that message, and from there we get the forum. Everything's cached so there shouldn't be any issues. Database loads (the way we did it a few years ago) have a limiter that stops you going back too far in order to limit the pain on the server.

There were several that I tried, and when I tried newer ones, the newer ones worked as expected.
I'm probably hitting the limiter. The messages I was trying to load were from 2001. However, if they're in the list, I should be able to see them when I click on them, correct?
In any case, here's a link to a message from 2000.

There shouldn't be any limit. A message from 2001 is something dark and dusty. If you have the ID I'll put on my Stetson, grab a torch and enter the archives.

Lately I have noticed some questions tagged as "C++14", or variants of that, appear on the main page when the "All" option is selected but when I click on "C++" those questions no longer appear. I think they should appear in the C++ category also. I noticed another one just now that I answered.

Done. The change will take a bit to propagate.

Trying to vote for this answer[^] reloads the page, and displays a validation error for the "new solution" box. The vote is not recorded.
There's also a problem with the display of the rating control, and the dreaded "f.tabs is not a function" error:

I'm really getting tired of being downvoted on my Q/A answers because the OP CHANGED HIS QUESTION after I posted my answer, rendering my answer in some way invalid.
Is there any convenient way to resolve this? I'm sick right now, so my mind ain't workin' at full capacity, otherwise, I'd offer at least one way this could be addressed.

You have been voted "smaller 5" in about 5 answers from total about 100 in this year. Where is the Problem?
Btw: Of course, I can understand the Frustration to get negative points while trying to help.

I'm not complaining about the points. I'm complaining about being downvoted *after* the OP changes the question, with that change rendering my solution invalid.

I think to understand you. The question is, was it really OP? I hope not!
Whenever I asked a question and somebody tried to help me I never voted below a 3, except it was obviously a spammy answer.

No, you don't.

Adding insult to injury, my answer (after reviewing the new version of the question) is STILL valid.

Allowing a questioner to vote on a solution is problematic. Apart from the matter you raise some questioners are simply not qualified to rate an answer and sometimes hastily reject perfectly good solutions. I'd say just allowing the OP to accept one or more answers is all that is needed.

I have edited answer(s) in the past using something like:

This answer is for the initial question. The question has been modified meanwhile so that the answer might not apply anymore.

I saw that case. I was thinking that OP voted 1 (I voted 5, as it was a totally unperfect answer for a totally unperfect questin - perfect fit )...

The only real solution here is to remove all answers to questions that are modified.
Or, in a perfect world, to have the community remove (not downvote) answers that no longer suit a question that's been modified.

Could it be possible to lock the first version of a question after, say 10 minutes?
The later versions would only be addendum to the original and would be shown separately.
