Just like a couple of days ago, I got a 5 for an article and my average lowered from 4.67 to 4.63. Can someone, please check what is going on?

Hi Nick,
I think you got a 4 and then a 5. The votes are weighted to favour higher level members. So a platinum-level will count and affect a vote more than a bronze level.

Hi Sean,
based on the recent score history, it seems like the time before last my article was upvoted on Nov 19th. If I remember correctly, yesterday the score showed 4.67. Today there happened just one extra vote and it was 5 (my number of fives has increased), yet the article's score went down.
Can you please, check?

What you cannot see behind the curtain is who voted and what level they are. But I went in and looked at each person's level then calculated the Vt and Wt, and came out with 4.625, which was rounded up to 4.63

Even so, in a fair system in general, and in the one you have (or claim to have) in particular, when adding a five to whatever the voting history and the current average is, it can only increase the average (assuming all weights are positive). One cannot lower an average by adding a number that is above the current average.
As this isn't the first such report, I'd be inclined to suspect a bug. But then, I can't imagine how one could easily get the reported effect.

My apologies for not being able to reply earlier. I've been travelling these last two weeks.
I will dig through the votes and see what's happened, but one option is that members can change their votes. While unlikely, it's still possible that a high-rep 5 was change to a 4, and a low-rep non-5 changed to a 5. This would lower the average.
Regardless, I'll ensure the final calculation is what it's meant to be.

Yes. Recently, this spammer's[^] things are very big & it takes more time to load(Actually he posted his things as alternative Tip/Tricks so when I open the main Tip/Trick it takes some more time to load). So please delete spammer's forum messages, Q/A answers, Tip/Tricks permanently instead of lock & showing as Deleted.

While doing moderation of one article today, I noticed the following error: Codeproject_Error.PNG (281.3 KB)
The screen looks weird with the header panel in the middle with a Console like error message. Is it correct behavior or a bug?

Chris, I tried changing my email address from comcast.net to gmail.com, but when I tried logging in with the new email, it refused to recognize it. I'm only logged in at work due to automatic login and cookies being enabled. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi,
I'm trying to edit a tip/trick but for some reason I always get a message stating that "Section is required." even if I select a section (database) for the t/t. The original post is probably missing the section. The trick is: shortcut keys for sqlserver[^]

I was just advising someone to take advantage of the Mentor scheme and pointed them at the Mentor FAQ[^].
I have never looked at them before so had a quick scan. I am puzzled by item 3.
How do authors ask for help?
Upon finding an author in need, an article in the "Articles Needing Approval" list, Code Project sends the author an e-mail requesting their help.
This does not make any sense to me. Code Project "sends the author an email asking for their help"? Really?
Could just be that I am misinterpreting it but it sure sounds backwards to me. I hope I have gotten it wrong.
