As a bit of compensation, my wife drinks tea, not coffe (and yes, she is Italian).
If the Lord God Almighty had consulted me before embarking upon the Creation, I would have recommended something simpler.

She is obviously a cultured Italian who dislikes paying a million lira for a tiny tiny cup of mud.

She might like paying a million lira, but nowhere in Italy is going to accept it now that they are in the Euro.

The way it is going it is likely to be Lire again pretty soon.

Were 'lire'. Anyway it's a while since they are passed away.
I hope BP will resist more (with the euro adoption our salaries were practically halved).

I only ever vote 1 or 5 (or I don't vote) -- that's just the way I am, trying to be more granular hurts my head.
There is at least one article for which I gave a 1 vote, which has since been improved, but not to the point that I would give it a 5. I don't want to re-vote; I want to remove the existing 1 vote. (I also wouldn't want to delete the message even if I could.)
Or maybe my 1 will become an outlier and will be removed automatically?
Vote a 3, that will remove the 1 vote's negative effect and will not add any positive rep score.
But still it will reduce the article rating. If I vote 5 for that article then rating will be 4.00(His 3 + My 5 = 8/2 = 4 [I know it's a wrong calculation because I'm a bronze Author but here just put a sample calculation for explanation])
Exactly. Even if I vote whatever the current average is, It'll still affect the average down the line.

Delete the comment that explains your vote. This will delete the vote associated with it and roll back the calculations.
