the Redis client was acting up again.
I've given is a talking to, and it seems to be co-operating now.

Is this the same thing to which all the threads of the past few 12 hour chunks refer perhaps?
[EDIT]
Ahhh! There they are. 'Still no newsletter for the week of 08/10/20 though.
No rush! No rush ...

Getting errors while posting answers and comments?

Yes, intermittently.

Just starting getting it myself in the lounge.

Good point, I have only been affected in the lounge. All other posts, no problem

Hamsters are still in play. I got this right now while posting a message in Lounge.
Items that need attention:
There was an error attempting to insert your message.
And now, while posting it here in Bugs/Suggs too.

I had broken a stored procedure, which I've now fixed. Sorry about that.

The weekly poll has a direct "view results" link.
The monthly competition doesn't have it. If you are curious about how is going you have to trigger the error of "you already voted for that" on purpose to see the ranking.
Is the option missing "as designed"?

Anyone out there with an idea as to why the CP pages don't render the "upvote' and "downvote" icons correctly in Chrome? It used to work okay but strangely enough that changed some time ago?
It works fine with Firefox but now those symbols appear in the upper left corner as simple text with some universal graphics symbol.

|
|
|

What do you mean? They work fine for me:
I'm using Chrome Version 84.0.4147.105 (Official Build) (64-bit), on Win10 Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.388)
If your displays are different, then Press WINKEY+SHIFT+S, drag-highlight the display you see, and release the mouse to copy a small screenshot, then paste it into a message here (this is one of the few forums which accept pictures) so the admins can see what you are looking at.

Hi OG,
This is an example of what I get to see. Really odd:
As I said: it used to work just fine until some time ago I used CCleaner to clear out some accumulated crud.
|
|
|
|
|
Have you tried CTRL+F5?
That should clear the cache and fully reload the page.

Yep, it does reload the page but there is no observable difference whatsoever.

It seems there is not up/down vote in the Spam forum any more. Maybe @sean-ewington can explain.
I am talking at cross-purposes here, I think the sun is getting to me. My original message stands.

I think it may have something to do with your privileges. There has been a major recalculation of CP points recently and many of us have fewer points than we did last week. @OriginalGriff probably gained a few thousand.

They look fine in Chrome for me too.
Do you have an ad-blocker installed?

Yes, adblock and adblock plus. As far as I know the default ones.
|
|
|
|
|
Try disabling them for CodeProject. They tend to mess with the site in unpredictable ways.

Piece of cake but unfortunately no joy.

Try viewing the site with an in private session. This should disable any extensions that may be affecting your browser.

Yep, that does make a difference. Now trawl through the set of extensions to see which one is causing it.
Thanks.

Most of the time, I received no notification from my article forum's new thread or post from my readers: Like this article. Only once in a blue moon, I received an email notification.
I suspect the notification is sometimes lost when CP is overloaded with many online users. My humble suggestion is to push every notification onto a queue whereby a worker thread shall dequeue from this queue to email and/or notify the member.
What do you think?

|

It looks like your account is set up to receive forum message notifications in your email, so please try something for me. Go to the article forum, hover over "Email Alerts" then check the Email Me box you prefer, then the "Send them" you would prefer, and press "Update." For anyone who has had problems in the past with this, this fixes it.
Thanks,
Sean Ewington
