It's probably a limitation that's caused by having viewed the forums in thread mode too many times already, and it automatically prohibits you from doing so after, say, the 40th time.

Can't tell if you are joking or not. It shouldn't matter if I viewed the forums 40 times or 4 million times...it should work - period.
I think it may be server related. Some people can't see anything in Thread view either and some can.
If you were joking then I am sorry I didn't get the joke. I am in a foul mood and this doesn't make it any better. Cheers.

I'm being a smart-ass (pinging on the points limit thing)...

Cool,
I was starting to worry that ego stroking all the points whingers might be taking precedence.
Thanks Chris.

Auto refresh feature would be good one as every time we have to refresh the page to see the latest post which can be a bit annoying - especially in lounge.
Cheers

No No please.Its so annoying.
When I open the page, I expect it to be static.
Also when I am reading long post or thinking about it, I dont want it load and start from scratch.
cheers,

I'm with you on this.
Also, what happens with slow speed links? Poor sods have enough problems without auto refresh all the time...
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

No. I'm with you on this. It makes up for that terrible deficiency all browsers have whereby they can't refresh a page through anything other than a complete restart of the system. It's such a pain.

Dis-Agree
Its very much annoying and eye-catching.
I like refreshing on demand. F5.

I have two five votes for the response made here[^], yet the points for those votes aren't reflected in the Recent reputation Points list. In fact, I think this is happening in more places than the one I cited.

There are lots of daily limits, see the FAQ. They had been ignored earlier, and are taken into account now, that is why a lot of people have seen some categories go down lately. Under the new constitution, you, having posted 40+ messages today, are likely to have gotten more than "enough" up-votes. You basically have three choices now:
1.
stop participating as soon as the rewards get withheld;
2.
keep it up, however forget about the points;
3.
create one or more sock puppet accounts, and switch to the next one when reaching one of the limits; that way a whole outlaw platoon could climb the reputation ladder and go after CG and Sacha.

or 4: suggest the limits are too stringent and should be modified and help make the system more acceptable to everyone

Not quite, my actual suggestion is:
5. make those anti-gaming limits color dependent. So newbies are really limited (maybe even more than now), and high achievers are hardly curtailed.
BTW: the sad "smiley" seems to have lost its space

I tried to convey the same thing earlier[^].
Limits are too stringent and should be modified. In case needed, we can use Rep-Color for the same as Luc suggested.

I can sort of understand the desire to mitigate the effect of sock-puppet accounts, but it seems to me that you're penalizing the regular users (those of us that log on pretty much every day, and that participate on the site) to solve a wider problem. Here's an idea:
After a user earns platinum in a category, lift the limits on that category for that user. People that have platinum are generally decent users, aren't they? That would allow normal/regular users to continue earning points, and would mitigate the sock puppet accounts ability to cause havoc...

Do you really need to go all the way to platinum? Gold, or possibly even Silver should be high enough to make sock puppet accounts more trouble than they're worth.

*I* honestly think so. There are very few tangible rewards for achieving a certain status here beyond "Oh look! You're status color has changed! That's gotta mean something!"
