Thanks for the report. I'll add this as a high priority bug.

Cool!

Why isn't the "My Vote of 1" message posted in the forum for the tip/trick?
How can a 1-vote be rebutted and/or removed if it's not handled the same as articles?

Along with Questions & Answers, Tips&Tricks now use the new Comment system.
I'm assuming that it is in regards to your Tip on Observable Dictionary. If you notice the comment you responded to :
Reason for my vote of 1
links are not tips - SledgeHammer01 4 hours ago
starts with, "Reason for my vote of 1".
This is the message for the down vote. If this had been removed, so would have the vote.

|
|
|
|
So you're saying that if I delete the comment, the 1 vote goes away too?

Are you saying a recipient can simply delete the comments and votes he doesn't like?
does that apply to Q&A? and T&T? articles? forums?
and unconditionally? or when he matches/exceeds the commentator's rep color?

Is it?
Doesn't that means that if someone downvotes my Tip/Trick, i can just revert back it, if I have a privilege to delete the comment?
|
|
|
|
|
I guess Yes. That's why delete privileges are not given to everyone.
..Go Green..

|
|
|

Yes, but only those of you that have sufficient reputation may do so. I would expect that you will use this only where appropriate, not just because you don't like votes of 1.
Personally, I would prefer if you couldn't modifiy votes on your own Questions or Answers, but for now we trust you site (lesser) gods to be fair. Possibly ask one of the other gods to review and act (delete) if appropriate.
Remember. "With great power comes great responsibility."
|
|
|
|
|
So do you feel it's fair, as a high level author, to have the ability to effectively remove down votes from your tips?
Would you feel it was fair if you downvoted, legitimately, another author who themselves had the power, and used that power, to remove your downvote?

I'm just not used to it.

In this[^] thread I got notification for JSOP's second post and Simons post, but not JSOP's first post.

I'm going to check under everyone's desk, and also behind the fridge in the office to see if it's been accidentally dropped. If I get no luck with that I'll take desperate measures and look at the messages and your acocunt itself to see if there's an issue, or whether it was a transient issue with that flaky-of-flaky technologies, SMTP.

I wouldn't do such spring cleaning right now, who knows what corpses you may find.
wouldn't it be easier to simply remove JSOP's first post, so the number of notifications matches the number of answers again?

Do you mean to tell me Ctrl-F5 won't work in this case?

Au contraire. It always works. However it seldom gives you what you hope for. That's not its fault though.

See this link:
http://www.codeproject.com/Answers/82933/bind-data-to-data-grid-combobox.aspx?cmt=1025#cmt2_82933[^]
It state's that there is 1 answer but none are displayed (in reality there really is a answer)
How to reproduce:
Go to my profile's comments posted[^]
Then click on the last comment (first in the row) view link.
What happened:
The OP posted a answer commenting on the answer given.
I pointed out that the OP should use the comment feature for that.
When going back to the question it seems he did so and deleted his answer therefor deleting my comment. So when I go to the answer in the way described I guess a error happens and for some reason only the question and none of the answers get displayed.

For me, it says there are 2 answers, and I see two answers.
Do you have anything set in your filter (top right)

Nope nothing set in the filter.
Now it does say 2 answers (I guess someone added a answer since I posted here) but I still don't see them.
Chrome 4.1
[EDIT]I get it on web21 / web24 (haven't landed on any others after countless refreshes) and the good old magic ctrl+F5 doesn't work [/EDIT]

Thanks for the detailed report Tom. We'll get this fixed.

This has probably been asked before but it has occurred to me that in addition to the abilities to 'Improve' questions and answers and Delete them, might it not be reasonable to also allow 'Mark as Answered'.
I have encountered situations in the past where this would have been appropriate and have just seen a prime example.
An answer was posted to a question, through which (together with several comments) the OP was able to resolve their problem. The OP even commented that he had resolved the problem, due to the answer, and was advised that all the thanks required would be to mark it as answered. The OP then proceeded to vote it 4 and not mark as answered.
People still post answers to 'Answered' questions anyway, so I do not see that allowing this would do any harm.

The exampel raised by Henry was mine, and I would have liked to see it marked as answered...
