Quote: Another day, another update. Can you let me know the current state for you now? The never ending curse of an admin developer I went to the latest articles page and clicked on the first one I saw and the only error I see is:
TypeError: can't redefine non-configurable property "retrievalService" Software-Project-Development-and-Decision-Making:13:5 But it is not affecting the bookmark button or anything anymore, and I didn't expect this would be a blocking error where it would affect ancillary objects and seems whatever resolved the button issue wasn't related to this and is working fine now. I cannot detect anything obvious to me that this particular error would affect but if I do figure out what this error "actually" breaks on the page, I will share it with you ASAP.
But the original issue of "missing button" resolved and as already stated, I check the dropdown "articles menu" each day I visit and the issue with the menu is gone too, so technically both of the original issues reported are now resolved in effect.
Quote: 1. The bookmark icon. I have a mode I can enable that will set the bookmark state based on whether the item is currently bookmarked. This adds extra load and we've been battling some nasty load issues these past 2 weeks so I've deliberately kept it turned off. We can re-enable it soon I hope. Understood makes perfect sense, just wanted to let you know in case you didn't now, clearly you do, so apologies.
Quote: 2. The paste thing. Ah Firefox. The original incarnation of this feature was very complicated specifically to work around firefox paste permissions. The code, if I remember rightly, was simplified as these issues were addressed by Firefox. If we'd kept the complicated horrible code we would have nicely avoided the issue you mentioned. C'est la vie... Hindsight, thou art a heartless bitch I hear ya, no worries, once I figured out what was breaking it, just a matter of letting you know. I was actually going to suggest making a more agnostic code, which clearly you had done before, so it is all good, if you choose to try again, let me know and I will gladly test it for you, if not then I will adapt when necessary to be able to use the current implementation.

My pleasure, I love the site and you are working hard on it, the least I can do for the service provided is to give back what I can.

Q&A solution posting is failing however posting a question works fine.
UPDATE: After many attempts over a 10~15 minute period on a couple of questions, solutions now appear to be posting.
Maybe it is just me...

I can second that.
Posted an answer but it was not shown at the question, in my list of answers, and on the reputation page. But there was no error message and it looked like always when an answer has been posted.
A second attempt 10 minutes later succeeded.
If it helps to check the logs: The question was [Libxml2 xpath] how to query a attribute with a string contains single quote and double quotation marks at same time[^].
[EDIT]
It happened again. This time I had the tab with the posted answer still opened. So I tried the "Improve answer" link:
"Unable to find the original post for this reply."

I was wondering if there is a problem with the mechanism which selects the 'Featured Article' on the Code Project home page because the current displayed article (which I am sure is an excellent article) has been continuously displayed since the weekend.

It's just a really good article!
Just so I can check the right bits: which technology have you selected in the "set your site filter" bar?

Having the same 'problem'.
No site filters set, 'All' selected.

The "featured article" just got a feature.
I can confirm as well, have had "Static Class, Singleton and their Side Effects" for a week now.

I'm currently doing a lot of searches on the site and I'm finding the mechanic of the checkboxes that allow the selection of where to search from very irritating. Each time I select/deselect a checkbox the page refresh itself, making the process of selecting/deselecting multiple sources slow, repetitive, unintuitive and error prone (sometimes I deselect a bunch of options only to find some of them still checked on the reload, the same for selection), not to mention the bandwidth usage when I'm on metered connections.
It's unintuitive because checkboxes are supposed to be checked/unchecked a whole bunch at a time without any change to the shown content (in contrast to buttons and links, for example).
I would prefer a button to manually refresh the search results AFTER having applied all the relevant filter: is it a legitimate request?

Hey, I noticed today that the change has been implemented. Thanks a lot! This could be marked as "solved" now.

Many old solved/unsolved posts are coming on all the categories on quick answers we sometimes forget to check the date and comment or give solution to them without knowing they are years old. Please make a new Tab for older posts so we don't get confused with new and old ones.Maybe you guys can keep all previous years post on another Tab if its feasible hope it helps.
