At the moment when you visit a member's profile you have the ability to 'View Member's Blog' and the link refers to the bottom of the page for the 'CodeProject' blog. Would it be possible to have a setting in 'My Settings' to allow the link to refer to an outside source. I know their is the customizeable Homepage section of the 'My Settings', but I have both an external blog and external homepage.

I am trying to understand why I get always three br tags at the end of my sig : Even when I modify one thread, they are back, when I save my settings, they are back. Can anyone help ?

And now I do not have any sig anymore  . I'll blame this one on CPHog. But still, I cannot get rid of the br tags when saving my sig in my settings. Why is that ?

They were actually </br>, (close break) not <br> tags. I've fixed it and added a bug report

I've been against it from the beginning and I think it's pretty clear the experiment is a failure.
It serves no useful purpose, reduces the level of discourse down to the "grunts" of clicking on 1's or 5's, alienates and angers people when it is misused or abused, has become a kind of game with the asocial and antagonistic and it is more often than not misused.
Just get rid of it, it's an embarassment to this site -- a thorn in the side of this site that really, really doesn't need to be there.

Why get rid of it? Just need to come up with a way to keep people from misusing or abusing the rating system. This goes for articles, as well.

Why get rid of it???? Did you even read my post or only the title. I could have given more reasons. It's a shambles and should not exist. How many other quality messageboards anywhere on the internet do you see with a rating system?

Drama is best experienced on *other* sites, this one is supposed to be a site for professionals and serious students and amateurs and needs to conduct itself in a professional manner if it intends to keep running by attracting quality people to post and write articles here as well as attracting advertising.
Anyone can go to any other site and indulge in flame wars etc. Anything that encourages that behaviour should be nipped in the bud in every possible manner. Getting rid of voting is one easy one to do right away.
This isn't a democracy, it's Chris' site and also by a good margin the site of anyone who cares about it since it's community driven but in the end Chris needs to do what's best for the site not sit by and appease the least common denominators.

No, it hasn't. As a typical bunch of software developers all manner of time has been spent kicking around every conceivable technical solution to univoters and other abuse but as is typical no one has bothered to state the obvious: just get rid of it, it serves *no* useful purpose. It's called thinking outside the box.

That's funny, I've accused others of being luddites here myself but I never expected anyone to attribute it to me.
Seriously though, no it isn't. Sometimes the best feature you can add to a program is to take an annoyance that serves no useful purpose away from it.

I've brought up getting rid of the voting system a few times since it's inception, I don't recall anyone else suggesting it.
I do recall endless and regular threads about all manner of ways of fine tuning it, as far as I can see there is no way of fine tuning it but getting rid of it fixes the problem in one go.
So far not one person has ever posted a reason why they like it that I can see, only fatalistic posts about how were stuck with it as if the users of this site are powerless or something.
I don't recall anyone bothering to take any time to defend it either, possibly because it's easier to just 1 vote me than to have a meaningful conversation about it which illustrates my argument beautifully.
