I might have found something... see two threads above
M.D.V.
If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Hi all,
Yesterday my rep points were 191K, suddenly, my rep points are gone with the hamsters and I am 0.

We've been progressively working through accounts and resyncing rep points. Due to occasional redis outages, as well as our model of trying to keep all rep points synced in real time, we were experiencing issues where (ironically) the points and graphs were not staying synced. We've moved to an "eventually consistent" model that massively reduces the load and will ensure things stay synced (or negligibly close in the short term)
cheers

Note there is nothing in the query string this time.
Reset it, UPDATE, and it seems to be back to normal.

Just got the same issue. First time in about a year.
I dug deep into everything. Redis, database, cookies, code, and the only thing that's left is a logic error, which, while seemingly obvious, is really, really hard to fathom since we've trimmed the whole system down to "take key, lookup values, use values". Literally. The "key" is your memberID or userpreferences ID (if not logged in). These are in sync for me. My settings everywhere are in sync and what I would expect. And yet.
A scenario we've been tossing around is that the data we request from redis isn't the data we're getting. Very, very unlikely (we do sanity checks to ensure this won't happen) but possible.
Anyway, the noose tightens

Sirs,
I still haven't received this weeks Newsletter.
And the control next to my user name where a hover used to tip my reputation points and a click made them visible on a redirected page is displaying the numeral "1".
So someone has sideswiped the general area previously known to me as the upper right hand corner of my browser display (Firefox)and failed to leave a nice note.
[EDIT]
Back to normal. Thanks (except for the newsletter thing ... no ponderous thing)

Your account is set up correctly and you should be receiving the Weekly Newsletter, but not any of the other Newsletters. There are a few thing that might be preventing you from receiving it.
- It may have been sent to your Junk email folder.
- It may be that your safe-mail account is filtering out the Newsletter as SPAM.
- Free Safe=Email account are now only good for 3 months. If you are using a free account, it may have expired.
- Our mail system does not send if your filter keywords result in no content being available to satisfy your selected tags. Your best bet is to just clear your email filter tags and then you will get everything.

My email address? I've received notice that there was a reply to my post at codeproject (this thread). At my email address.
Are you saying that the weekly newsletter is somehow not sent to the same email address that the reply was sent? I'm not sure I understand why there would be a difference.

Well that has eliminated one possible cause.
I went back and checked the logs and it seems that for some reason the Weekly Newsletter failed to send this week and nobody noticed.
Sorry. I'll double check next week.

Nope: it looks like they have had problems all day with messages not posting properly.
That one Iposted, it appeared on the Lounge, I refreshed it a few minutes later and it was gone - so I put it back.
They also seem to have problems with "points-to-zero" today - yours got killed for about ten minutes about four hours or so ago.

Sandeep Mewara wrote: @OriginalGriff can confirm too if he deleted his previous TOTD post as it was not that cryptic enough. Everyone speaking/looking for riddles and 'cryptic meanings' all of the time is probably why all of the engineers and professionals are over at reddit, ycombinator or stack overflow. I doubt the staff here pays enough attention to the forums to fully comprehend the issue.

Chris at least is very aware of TotD.

Yeah,
I don't have any problem with it. But it's the fifth regular member within the last few weeks I've seen referring to normal looking posts as having 'hidden cryptic meaning'. I'm beginning to wonder if a side effect of having those CCC puzzles in the Lounge are creating an unhealthy environment.
Let me put it another way... I've never been on reddit, ycombinator or other forums where a half dozen regular members are looking for hidden meanings in every forum post.
Maybe it would be better to create a special Puzzle forum instead of having those in the Lounge.
Best Wishes,
-David Delaune

For me saying so, was just because off late, I have been trying to see what CCC is that people like so much (AFAIK, you are one of the VETERANs of it) (and I am really bad at it )
About TOTD, they are mostly not clear to me and I was just pulling OG's leg.

I am not sure what would be Lounge for, if not these general discussions and threads. I just read what interests me (and respond if I feel like) or else move on.
To me as long as conflicts and debates are not there, it should be good enough.
Hey - how would we feel some connect if we don't pull each others leg once a while.

The Lounge is a bit of fun, and definitely populated by those who spend a lot of time here, but our focus is on allowing developers to share expertise and code. We're developers. We live and breath obtuse and irrational puzzles. I'd be a bit concerned if the Lounge suddenly became totally readable to the unwashed masses.

I seem to have lost ~67K rep points, now down to 33.. (growing slowly) .. not much I can do to help fight the spammers etc
Are the cache (Redis) issues again ? or is it my ISP (also possible) .. I'm seeing long lags down here in Australia when I'm on CP
