I am currently using Motherboard serial number from client and hard code it in my software coding. Is it reliable ?? or is there any way other than this

Is it possible to change Motherboard Serial number???

As far as your customer doesn't know you are doing that way (or isn't he able to use a hex editor).

Encrypting it may help.

Software security is a general term. Are you looking for methods to avoid piracy? If yes, software activation through Internet seems to be better. You should provide a product key when user purchases the product. User should use this product key and connect to your website through the application to activate. If key is not yet used, activate the product and mark the key as used.

After all, preventing software piracy 100% is impossible.
