All I have changed is the config to point to test.mdb (in the same dir). Getting this.
Response object error 'ASP 0156 : 80004005'
Header Error
/dbadmin/common.asp, line 25
The HTTP headers are already written to the client...
If I remove lines 25 and 26 I get:
Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a1391'
'adUseClient' is undefined
/dbadmin/common.asp, line 30
I have the properties in PWS set to Execute for this dir but I am not sure tht is the same as an IIS application.

Got it to work and bring up all my tables in the Database but why can I add, edit and delete from some tables and not from others? Is it a setting in the code or is it my database? Using SQL 2000 on Windows 2000 server. Thanks for any help.

on using data.asp?table=xxx
where xx is my table name on clicking the edit button
the edit screen pop up nicely but on clicking the save button
i received the following error message
Multiple-step operation generated errors. Check each status value.

menu of 'view/Overview' linked table_info.asp
but there is not in zip file.

The file shouldn't be there, and therefore the link shouldn't have been there either.

1 - Check that Sql2k permit Mixed Mode auth ( simply verify that you can connect by (sa , xxxx) using QueryAnalyser
2 - Check the authentication mode on your DSN system source
3 - Please post the connection string. I think that can be more useful using a DSN-LESS connection string, using OleDb provider. For example: try:
"DRIVER=SQL Server;SERVER=YOURSERVERNAME;UID=sa;PWD=xxxx;DATABASE=YOURCATALOGNAME"
Hope this can help you.

Is your sql server set up to use only windows authenticationand not sql server authentication? I believe this is the default for MSDE2000.
My sql 2000 is setup to use windows and sql (equivalent to mixed mode in sql 7)

And you don't have anything like "Trusted Connections" or something similar in the connection string?

can we add grid.setlookup(xxxx) how to write it so that we can have for example gender field do have a combo box male, female
If you put male and female into a recordset that should work.
Lookup is lost on using views or selecting particular records in a table
select * from table where field1='x'
i also tried to use views
Lookup depends on foreign keys, and views have no foreign keys.
can we filter a table and still make use of foreign keys thanks for your reply
I guess a recordset created from a select statement instead of a table can be used instead, but this application only supports tables (and views), and not select statements.

thanks the lookup box shows up but on clicking add without disabling the lookup an error message is displayed infront of the field name of the foreign key instead of a text box
microsoft ole db provider for sql server error 80040e14 invalid column name '2' where 2 is the value of the primary key of the related table

Probably a bug in my code. Doesn't the error message tell you what line (and file) this happens on?
No it doesn't tell the line number.
The data entry form displays properly for all the other fields which are not foreign keys only the one that is a foreign key got that error message instead of the input text box

In data.asp, change line no 62 (or there about) from:
Grid.SetDefault(rsKeys('FK_COLUMN_NAME').Value,'select "' + dd.GetValue() + '"');
to
Grid.SetDefault(rsKeys('FK_COLUMN_NAME').Value,"select '" + dd.GetValue() + "'");
